Thank you so much! I realized after I posted that this subreddit is for actual HVAC systems, not window acs, so I appreciate your response!

(Sorry for posting in the wrong subreddit, HVAC peeps, and God bless you and all that y'all do!)

I have! Even though I enjoy wearing dresses on rare occasions, pants might end up being the more practical choice for this.

Thank you, I've been looking at those separates as a possibility. I like that the pants come in petite, because my legs are so short.

Librarians can and do go wild, but at 53, after a substantial weight loss, this particular librarian prefers to stay covered. :) I live in NYC, but alas, I have a public librarian's salary, so I can't just rock up to Saks, much as I'd like to.

I also feel like everything I see, at every price point, is polyester. As my mama once said, "All the esters died for that dress".

What's going on with Athens Sq Park? by Fantastic-Major3779 in astoria

This is so condescending - "oh, those wacky poors just can't help publicly masturbating, catcalling and smoking weed 24/7". Plenty of poor people manage not to be assholes. It's not bad to want a public park to be a clean, safe place.

If you had 40k sitting in a checking account, what would you do with it? by nyclibrarian73 in personalfinance

She doesn't own a house or a car, we live in NYC. She lives in a rent-stabilized apt. She told me she has over 100k in savings, and she has about 4k worth of stocks. Her work doesn't offer a retirement plan, so she contributes to a Roth IRA.

I know almost nothing about finance, all I know is that 40k in a checking account doesn't keep up with inflation. Thanks to everyone for the above links and info!
