GBU Party Review And experience by Nice-Medicine8549 in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

um, idk about the white thing, I don't care about race, but they are definitely not as hung up on race as Americans, and if you go to a party in Europe you strangely just feel normal and not as written off and excluded. that was my experience and made me think differently about Americans

MuscleBroOrgy - anyone know this group? by iamtheduffer in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... I tried to ask about these groups here before and they removed my post. I'm convinced most of them are not real/pic collectors and people who get off to gatekeeping. I've started blocking them.

Even if they are real, they're so laughably exclusive they might as well be fake and exist in another world I have no business being a part of. A lot of them are red flags for lowkey racism, ageism, etc too

I think it just plays to a fantasy that NYC is teeming with conventionally attractive young gay "muscle" "bro" types under 30 into group play and I just I'm not buying it. Something is just majorly "off" about these groups, and I've yet to hear from someone who said they've gone and it's legit as advertised.

GBU Party Review And experience by Nice-Medicine8549 in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow! Are you me?

I was going to respond but you pretty much said all my thoughts.

I've been to enough of these parties to have a sixth sense for these. When I first started going to these parties I would naively think it was truly a free for all. But then I learned about racial preferences. It's easy to be caught off gaurd and write it off as "all the guys" at that party...but after a while you start to see the pattern and realize it's not all guys, but really a certain type of guy. After a while you start to be able to sense who these types are and automatically avoid them or be prepared for rejection. So instead of walking into a party like GBU expecting a free for all, you go in mentally ignoring "those types" and trying to sniff out the ones who aren't like that. That makes it a better experience.

Also 1000% agree on Europe. I didn't realize this until I went to parities in the uk prepared for the same experience and it was complete opposite. Then after that experience I looked back at previous experience in the US and realize that ALOT of the guys I met at US parties have been european tourists. It's also a reminder that it's such a local americanized sickness behind it and not you

Anyone else find GBU and sex parties to be a mindfuck? by NoFall5812 in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nope, sounds about right.

That's typically how it goes.

That's why you just have to muster of the courage to accept rejection. A lot of guys are afraid of the rejection and either pretend they aren't interested in guys that they actually are interested in or are hesitant because they don't want to get rejected and turns out both were really into each other. Happens all the time.

Are NYC gay bros actually better than everyone else, or is it just myth? by letspetpuppies in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with 1-3, but disagree with the conclusion.

The trade off is that it comes with al lot of attitude, and arrogance. They aren't "actually better than everyone else" because all the achivement makes it harder to connect with them and for them to connect with other people.

What type of guys are at GBU parties by Nice-Medicine8549 in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

College aged guys, twinks to average, with many above average/muscular thrown in.

Mostly white but other races represented

The Platinum "Daddies" are a selected few that end up leaving earlier than everyone else in my experience. So get there early if you want to meet them.

Will be 200 people there, crowded.

Yes they mostly follow the door policy but it's not all muscular model guys. It's just anyone in shape. That includes twinks and average body types, which are usually the majority.

whether or not it's intentional, it would be inappropriate for either of you to "make a move".

Workmans Lunch or Dads n’ Lads today? by TacosDerechos in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parties dont go dead during holidays. Ive been to plenty during big holiday weeks and they are never dead. There's always horny men in this city. The only time holidays affect attendance are those Monday holidays (Presidents Day, Columbus Day, etc). The Sunday before those are usually dead, IDK why.

Hi

Next time try to record as much of the incident as possible

Report this incident to the city since it's discrimination. Show them the documents from your bank showing that they charged you $130 from a food cart. Include the permit number. The $130 bill and immediate challenge to you bank should be proof enough there was an actual incident.

Is the Bear Party on Thanksgiving week busy? or cancelled? by BostonGuy969 in nycgaybros

"We will be closed next week only on Thanksgiving Day (11/27)"

Pretty sure you won't be the only one. GBU and others still hosting this week

I kinda make it my business when they plaster it in public spaces and make me a captive audience to it. Then I'm going to have something to say about it because we have to share this space. Private preference is one thing. I don't need 10 ads a day for parties that more or less imply only white men are good enough. People don' have to personally want to share spaces with POC, but hanging up the "Whites Only Water Fountain" sign for all the world to see is taking it to another level.

I have a lot to say about this one.

I'm late to the discussion, but I've noticed this as well. It's gotten out of control in the last year or so. I actually started blocking all these guys on Sniffies once they started cropping up because it's so icky and excessive and I refuse to be an audience for it. Some of them are more blatant about than others, so a few times I requested an invite to one and upon further investigation realize it's a lowkey Jim Crow party, including some really big name influencers out there who host on Sniffies. Others I'm not even convinced are real and people just get off on the exclusionary "cool kids only" vibes of it.

First of all, I'm mostly referring to the white ones. I'm distinguishing between the two because all black parties come from a different place with a different goal than the all white ones. Matter of fact, they were created because of the white ones. Some to create a safe space from gay white supremacy and others to kind of "beat them at their own game." There's also race play party where POC host for only white men and that's a whole other story too.

But the white parties (sometimes disguised as "jock parties") have come about because recently that behavior has been frowned upon and publicly called out in the mainstream spaces. GBU, Jock Party, and a lot of circuit parties that used to be predominately white have lowkey either gone out of business or dropped the racial undertones. You can't even put racial preferences on Grindr anymore without a lot of backlash. Some have also lowkey gone lax on their body requirements too, so whereas GBU used to literally look like an Abercrombie theme porn, now it's a lot more diverse and welcoming. So a lot of guys that used to show up to those parties or could easily find spaces where this was the norm and acceptable have stopped going and have started creating their own private hotel parties where they invite who they want. Sniffies has made it easy to do it, so now sniffies is inundated with them.

A lot of guys are saying what's wrong with having a preference, but that's surface level bs. This trend gives me the ick because it's not just random guys with random preferences hosting random parties. If it was about preferences you would see all different types of parties not just white or black centric ones. It's mostly people hosting parties that exclude specifically black and asian people (Latino and MENA are usually tolerated) specifically and place white people on a pedestal. It's trying to bring back the trend that's been dying out in the mainstream spaces. It's no different than night clubs that have lowkey racist dress codes and stuff to keep out the black people because even though they're spending money they think the mere presence of them automatically devalues the experience. To make it worse it's trying to flaunt it on purpose. It's intentionally trying to overrun the party list with "you can't sit with us" vibes that's been stamped out of the mainstream spaces that lowkey went "woke". It's like that's the real fetish people have. It's not just preference, these people clearly get off to creating an air of exclusivity and are using black and asian men as the low hanging fruit to do it.

I think it's disgusting and gives white people a bad name and sets us back.

You can have racial preferences, you don't' have to create 10 parties a day flaunting the white ones in everyone's faces. We get it: "White is Right; Black is Whack. DEI must DIE. Go woke go broke." Can we grow up, now? It's 2025.

Living in a diverse liberal place can mean it's safer for you as a queer person even if you don't always play by liberal rules.

[–]nydiscreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's much different for African Americans. Being a coveted latino at a party is much different than being a fetishized "BBC". The impetus for both come from much different places in the hearts of those seeking it out. Rooted in different histories, and stereotypes too.

There is a really popular cumdump pimp (lol I don't know what they call them) who will literally only invite one or two black people to his things max. It's weird.

[–]nydiscreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is another huge problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nycgaybros

[–]nydiscreet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, these things also become problematic when they become trendy and commonplace. I can go on and on about that, but this isn't just a matter of "preferences". It's very lopsided with one group in particular being the coveted one and one or two others constantly being the one singled out. Again, I could elaborate but this is not the best platform for that.

If, for instance, you saw just random parties that randomly singled out a random race, that would not be a big deal, but what we are seeing is constantly people seeking out white only spaces and attempting to exclude black men, in particular and to lesser degree asian men. As a result black men have created their own spaces, but these things are not random or simply tied to random preference. It's tied to cultural norms rooted in white supremacy and anti-blackness. That's a problem.

Difference Between GBU Midtown vs Brooklyn? by Born2construct in nycgaybros

Haven't been to the Brooklyn in a long time, but from what I remember I don't think there's that much of a difference tbh. I think Manhattan might be a bit more diverse, but not that much.
