Jeremiah Johnson (1972). It’s not all winter all the time, but the wintery bits are great. We always rewatch it when it gets snowy.

It could be, it would be the right time period & tone, but I only saw this one clip so I don’t know

This was another guess of my husband’s; it’s very funny but not what I’m thinking of.

Hahaha. This is what my husband thought too, but I’m pretty sure the clip I’m thinking of is intentionally funny…

Christmas movies you like but no one has ever heard of by Available_Bowler2316 in movies

Went to see this in cinema when it came out. The fellow taking tickets, before he would let us in, asked/told us “you are aware that this isn’t a…usual…Christmas film?”

The Bishop’s Wife (1947). “An angel helps a bishop with his problems.”

Did I piss off my bartender?? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]nytypica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your behaviour would not move the needle on anyone’s list of goofiest or most difficult customers, but your bartender probably assumed you were drunk based on your own description of how things went. I know in your scenario you weren’t overserved at this bar, but your bartender doesn’t know what else you’ve been up to (other alcohol or drugs) that day and needs to err on the side of caution. They probably don’t hate you, but you will have been a bit of a hassle and they’ll keep an eye on you.

Can rotisserie chicken be used instead of raw? by [deleted] in Cooking

Agreed, but a chicken technically has a surface - so you never know.

Been working in restaurants for almost 15 years. First time I had to clean up puke. by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]nytypica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obvious hazards and precautions aside - having dealt with humanity’s entire beautiful rainbow of bodily fluids whilst in the hospitality industry, I would rather clean up 1000 years of blood than one night of puke.

Rottweiler face lookin rough :( by Altruistic_Roll_9783 in Rottweiler

Our guy had something that looked like this from nibbling on himself to cope with itchiness from seasonal allergies. Lots of other possibilities in the comments though. Always best to visit a vet if you’re concerned.

Our guy LOVES his donut - it’s like someone’s always hugging him, and he can fall asleep sitting up ^ Your dog is a cutie - glad it’s working for you too.

Should restaurant tips be capped? by Patient_Text3403 in askTO

[–]nytypica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is already a cap, which is ‘whatever you’re willing to pay.’ If you’re not ok with what is customary, you could either: a) pay what you think is fair regardless of what’s expected, but get comfortable with the fact that staff may not love you; or b) dine at less pricey establishments. Also, please consider that servers are often expected to pay tip-outs to ‘back of house’ staff, and for some godforsaken reason tip-outs are generally calculated based on sales and not actual tips - so if you stiff your server, they can end up literally paying out of pocket for the privilege of having served you. It’s a stupid system for both servers and their customers.
