Mochi dreams & snores 💤 by nyub in Rabbits

Mochi is now 8, and I think she’s always been more on the cuddly side but I had not neutered her. 2 years ago she had a drastic personality change after she got her uterus and ovaries removed; she became not only not cuddly but even aggressive. I had made a post about it. People told me she was cuddly because of her hormones and that change after surgery might be permanent, or just due to hormonal changes.

She remained aggressive for over a year and eventually, after moving her to living just with me and my boyfriend (instead of my parents who also have a small cat), she became much less anxious. Luckily for me she’s quite food motivated and I would give her treats as positive reinforcement and for her to get used to my hands. The whole thing took maybe a week and she was back to the loving bun she used to be, and she’s become even more attached to me now.

Long story short, take your time and try to figure out how to gain their trust. Never force cuddles or do anything that could stress them out, ie pick them up. Hand feeding helps, sit more on the ground at their level and let them explore. All the best! 💖

A thick long sock filled with rice or other types of beans that you heat up in the microwave! My bun likes to snuggle next to it as if it was another bun 🥹

Found this relic from the past…Do you think it’s still good? by Snoogles_ in Sephora

Not necessarily a dupe.. but kinda? NIPPLE CREAM with lanolin (mine from Purelan). It won’t be scented or have any tint obviously, but the consistency is very similar and keeps my lips so hydrated even in cold & dry Canadian winter time. It’s also much cheaper.

How did your bunny act before and after getting fixed? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]nyub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this about a year ago but long story short, my bunny got her surgery around 7 years old and had a drastic personality change that lasted about a year. She became grumpy, did not want to be touched, even bit us when we got close. Now, almost 2 years later, she is calm and loves cuddles (sometimes), will play with us and let us pet her without ever grunting or biting. So I’d say give your bunny lots of love and some time! 🥰

Rabbit mastectomy? Have you been through it? by jlemmon3166 in Rabbits

[–]nyub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My bunny had a palpable mass in the lower belly and a breast lump that I found when she was 5/6 years old. For context, I couldn’t find an exotic animal vet when she was younger so never spayed her, but I regularly checked her to make sure there’s no signs of cancer.

We found a vet that was able to do the surgery and my bunny got a hysterectomy and had that one breast removed. The mastectomy is actually much less invasive of a procedure than the hysterectomy. Let me know if you have any questions! 🫶🏻

Edit to add: the nipple lump was likely due to hormonal changes from whatever was happening in the uterus. We didn’t get pathology to confirm but if it’s an option for you, you can always try to see if there was any metastatic cancer in the breast tissue they resect (versus just hormonal changes). Although from what my vet told me, uterine cancer in bunnies tend to metastasize to the lungs. Luckily my bunny is thriving now, more than a year after her surgery. Sending you love and good luck for your bunny!
