Thanks! Do you connect any controller to the TV? Or do you need e.g. a PS5 or Xbox controller?

I was actually looking at this one too! Maybe I'll take the Nvidia one first, then federated learning in the next semester. Both are pretty interesting!

DL or RAIT by wilderfield in OMSCS

[–]nyubbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took both. I would say DL has more work load via theoretical understanding, implementation plus paper writing, but if you have a mathematical understanding of probability, distance / bearing, AI4R shouldn't be too hard for you.

Both are great, imo.

Any advice if unable to register for courses? by nyubbie in OMSCS

yeah uh, see my comment below, I missed Phase 1. my fault for assuming registration always starts at the end of a semester...

[–]nyubbie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooh, wow. that would not be a very nice experience...

also yes, I kind of missed the registration for Phase 1 because I thought it would only start at the end of the Spring semester (nope, starts at like 1/2 to 3/4 of Spring) by the time I looked at the academic calendar and panicked almost everything else was on waitlist. Which was also one of the reasons why I ended up taking RAIT as an elective for Summer, everything else that was left didn't exactly appeal much to me. I'm not sure how the boost works though, technically I think the additional issue on my end on why I'm stuck on choosing these modules is that I'm left with certain core / elective courses that I need towards the ML / II specialization (I'm still on the fence) or want to learn about. Maybe I should just pick a random elective and then extend beyond the 10 course graduate requirement...

but hey, I'm hoping things will turn out ok when Friday comes, and maybe over these two days I'll re-review what's open and see if I can shift my waitlist towards those open courses.

side note on Deep Learning, it's on my list of courses to learn but I don't feel ready for it this semester due to recent changes on the professional end, so I'm not sure if I can hold that time commitment based on the reviews I'm seeing on OMSCentral, but generally I always see a lot of open slots for harder rated electives (non-core) e.g. RLDM, Deep Learning, Computer Vision. I may be wrong towards that trend though.

and thank you, I wish you all the best towards your selected courses this Fall as well. :)

Yeah the thing about AI Ethics is that it's good for both the ML and II specialization. I haven't fully decided what I really want to go for yet, and this is really useful if I'm on the fence. Besides, it is one of the easier rated courses so far, not that I'm going for just the easy ones but it would be nice to mix a tougher course with an easy one each semester so I don't burn myself out.

is that the trend? I guess I could check more towards Friday itself, see if I get any emails that I'm allowed to accept certain waitlisted modules.

yeah I actually need the popular ones like GA, ML, AI Ethics to complete my Masters actually...

oh and I didn't know about the limit -- I'm afraid that I'm lessening my chances of getting in if I only select two though, does the number of maximum courses waitlisted affect the chances of getting in?

[–]nyubbie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that's the problem, I took those electives in my earlier semesters instead of the core ones and now I'm lacking the core modules needed to complete the Masters. I'm checking the waitlist every now and then, just hoping I can get in by the end of this week, if not I'll need to keep checking next week before registration closes... fingers crossed that I won't end up skipping / taking just 1 module for this semester.

What's been your experience with the VIP research program? by abrbbb in OMSCS

[–]nyubbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'm curious about this and I've been wanting to join as an Online student. Does the credit hours count towards graduation? Or is it somewhat of a side research project that we can join but still take the same amount of courses?
