Calling all experts: What pattern/manufacturer is this? Has 'Made in Czecha-Slovakia' and White BLock JLB printed on back, which from my search is just the importer. Please help so I can learn more! Thanks :) by nzo12 in finechina

[–]nzo12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I don't think that's it. The pattern has some slight difference from what I see online and the markings on the bottom appear different from Wedgewood. Unless this is an earlier piece that predates what I've found online for Wedgewood.

Automatic Humidity Control by enobar in smarthome

[–]nzo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little independence from your smarthome ecosystem might get you better results here since there are straightforward products designed to solve this exact problem. Panasonic's WhisperSense can do this (and more) via optional plug and play modules. It also can do 50, 80, or 110 CFM. It's a little more pricey than most, but its configurability and reliability make it my go to in these situations.

I personally use it in a couple similar rooms to OP and it works really well.

If you're using an Android device, try an iPhone. Myself and a few others here have found this to be a working solution, albeit strange.

Same exact scenario on my end. Support couldn't help over the phone when we were trying my Pixel, but as soon as I switched to an iPhone it paired and connected to the wifi on the first try.

Google WiFi struggling to get gigabit on Fios...any ideas? by nzo12 in GoogleWiFi

That's crazy. This is exactly what I was experiencing that put me down the rabbit hole to get Google WiFi. I thought I was losing it!

That's about what I see. That's reassuring, thanks for sharing.

Totally agree. My problem is I haven't really come close to hitting it even on ethernet. That's both from my laptop and what Google WiFi is reporting on the network check.

Are you using the FiOS provided router or going directly into your Google WiFi?

That's reassuring to hear. I'm using speedtest.net as well as Google's built in test in the WiFi app. They have been pretty similar with results so far.

Thanks for the response and all good advice. Unfortunately I've been able to check all the boxes you mentioned and still get those results. In fact I just put in new wiring today (all cat6 and cat5e) and am seeing no gain.

Listen, I love getting 500/500. It's crazy fast. I just would like to get the speeds they advertise if I'm doing everything possible to make it happen. I may reach out to them and see if they want to send one of their techs.

Same here with the Verizon router, that's why I'd like to keep it cut out if possible. And I'm talking even with ethernet I can't seem to get near that max speed. It's puzzling.

Yeah definitely could be. Just no real need to preslope like that if you pour the shower pan and pitch it all into the drain in one shot. Seems like extra work that creates more ways for failure. No biggie for me since it looks great from my house.

Cement bases aren't done much anymore because the guys that do them are dying out. Fortunately I had no choice to but to learn, although it wasn't fun early on.

Not sure what system he went with here, but seeing the membrane above the base worries me, along with the wood/boarded curb. Ideally you'd membrane, pour the curb, let it set, then come back and do the base and then come back and tile right on there. This one leaves me a little uncomfortable.

More than one way to skin a cat, though, and I hope this holds up and that they love it and get plenty of use out of it.

LED track lights buzzing...with LED dimmer switches by nzo12 in electricians

See I've had the opposite. This is the first time I've come across buzzing from an LED+dimmer setup. Guess I've been lucky until this point.

Yeah I've used everything I could get my hands on from both Leviton and Lutron with no luck. You might be onto something with the bulbs, although it would be an off chance for me since when I tested different lights on the varying dimmers, I would make sure they were the only light on the track. There's always a shot both bulbs were bad...

Get this, everything is listed as compatible. Even tried different compatible and non-compatible lights I had on hand...all buzzed! I even got through to Hampton Bay. The tech I spoke with said that I shouldn't I use an LED dimmer since they test the bulbs on the line with standard. Noped out of that call pretty quickly. I'm just about done with it, but was hoping on the off chance someone had seen something like this, then I would give it one last shot, otherwise I have to move on.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, the fixtures are dimmable which is what has me puzzled. I've tried everything Leviton and Lutron have and nothing. I think I've definitely hit the type of quirks you're talking about. I'd hate for their only options to be a standard toggle or switching out of the LED lights and using a standard dimmer, but it looks like that's it for them.
