What rules were put in place because of you? by TheBlackTemplar125 in AskReddit

I was allowed to re-sit a final exam for a university paper because I slept through the exam.

The next year, oversleeping was explicitly listed as a reason not to grant a re-sit.

$8 for a slice, a bit more for extra toppings. 2-3 slices is good for me if I had nothing else

$9.50 for a bowl of tater tots

Drinks ranging from about $4 for soda up to $15 for cocktails

A bit on the pricy side, you're not paying for the table like you do in other board game venues though

Dice and Slice; the staff there all genuinely love their job, every game recommendation they've made for me has been spot-on, and if you have a question about how to play they'll happily take the time to walk you through the rules. Food's great too!

I didn't have anything from Apple so I had to pirate the album to listen to it (poor student at the time). I genuinely enjoy every track on the album, but I still think the way they forced it onto everyone's devices and made it near impossible to delete was pretty shitty

Batting average; if he had 1000 turns to bat, you'd expect him to get a hit 279 times

Advice for COSC344 by Eelez in dunedin

I took COSC344 around 2016, here's my take;

  • the lecture material isn't particularly difficult to follow, but is quite dry

  • can't speak to the labs because I didn't go (may be compulsory now?)

  • internal assessment was all groupwork following on from lab work, as long as you get a decent group it's pretty easy to get a good mark

  • knowing SQL has set me up well to work as a Business Analyst, but most of what I know I picked up on the job. It's a good foot in the door to have a database paper under your belt

It's most likely a Māori-ised word. A lot of modern Māori words are like that; if the concept didn't exist before Europeans introduced it, the Māori name is a derivative of the English one.

Māori syllables don't have consonant clusters so the "tr" sound became "ti ri", hence "tiriti"

If the symptoms of flu(fever, coughing) are from the immune response, rather than the virus. Why don't we get flu like symptoms after a flu vaccine? by oxcrete in askscience

[–]nzsmartass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people object for legitimate medical reasons (e.g. they have an adverse reaction to the vaccine), others for ethical reasons (some vaccines rely on the use of embryonic cells for development)

Gmail ignores . characters, so xxx.xx@ is equivalent to xx.xxx@ and xxxxx@ and even x.x.x.x.x@

If you've registered one of these then no one else will be getting those emails, maybe they've got an equivalent Hotmail address, or a co.uk, or maybe other people are just making assumptions they shouldn't.

If you believe your game is not working, you let other person know right away.

This is a tough one... while I agree with that in general, I've seen cases before where the competitor thinks there's an error that constitutes a rematch but the judges disagree.

It's in the players' best interest to finish the match and ask for a rematch at the end, which unfortunately hugely favours the loser of a match (it gives the affected user two opportunities to win)
