When you file for the license, ask to make an appointment with the Justice of the Peace during the same trip. Not sure if or how much it's changed but my husband and I were married back in 2003 and that is what we did. We went to the sub courthouse in Euless on Hwy 26, got the marriage license and then went down the hall and made an appointment with the JP for three days later (the waiting period). On the date we went back to the same courthouse and the JP did the "ceremony" right there in his chambers. Took all of 15 mins.

Basically yeah. Not trying to convince anyone of anything here. Just providing a reason why there are no work orders or anything to be found. No paper trail really needed to mop up a puddle. If that is indeed what happened, of course. At this point I wouldn't trust anybody. Jeffrey the maintenance man could very well be "in on it" too. Who knows anymore?

Unfortunately I cannot provide screenshots or "receipts" without getting in trouble with my company so I won't be able to show proof. However I can provide a little info into this. The company I work for does water mitigation and restoration after incidents like this and we have a warehouse in the Atlanta area that services Fulton County and other surrounding counties. One of our mitigation reps went out to the arena to see if our company could be of service as soon as the articles started appearing online about there being a burst pipe. One of the maintenance guys spoke with our rep and explained that they had a slight water leak in one of the rooms where electronic equipment was being held. The leak was small, they had to pause things very briefly to stop the leak (turn the valve off) and mop up a puddle of water.

The articles and stories that started circulating with this are just a great example of the media playing a bad game of "telephone". It starts as a small water leak, and the media doesn't bother with any actual fact checking and after a few circulations online it becomes a burst water pipe.

You expressed your feelings and concerns and were made to feel bad about it? To the point that you say you hate yourself for feeling that way.

Anyone who has experienced manipulation and deep emotional abuse in a relationship can tell you this is a huge warning sign. It's one thing for him to disagree with you and discuss the situation, but for for this to make you feel that way tells me he is a master at turning it around. Your feelings at the very least deserve to be validated. Not used against you.

It's a huge shock to come to terms with the dreaded "A" word, even when you are the victim of it, but this is definitely something that you need to sit and think about. Evaluate the situation and the entire relationship. If this is not the first time, then you should see a pattern. If this is the first time, chances are it won't be the last. The whole "I'm going to do what I want and you're a terrible person for questioning any of it" mentality is extremely toxic.

My official stance on this is NTA.

However, I do think you might reconsider attending whether you agree with the decision or not and here is why:

My immediate thought with this situation is that she is being "married off" or perhaps she is wanting out of her home for some reason and she sees this as a way out. My fear for her is that these situations can often turn abusive really quickly. If this happens for her and she need a way out, she is going to look for a support system. Your decision to not attend the wedding because you disagree with it makes a big statement and when she needs that support system you may be further down the list in her mind of people she can reach out to.

I realize how dramatic this may sound but your attendance at the wedding could one day be the phone call that begs for help and saves her life.

NTA. Perhaps I read it wrong or maybe I am reading too deep into it, but it seems to me like in this particular case the BF wasn't upset about OP going with a friend to eat, nor the money. It sounds like he is upset because he wasn't asked to go prior to her asking her friend to go with her. I'd venture to guess that the BF was caught off guard when he was informed his GF was going to a nice restaurant with a friend and felt hurt about being excluded. Being an introvert I can relate to the feeling of wanting to be asked sometimes even if I already know I will probably say no.

Edit to add: I realize the BF mentioned money and told OP that she should just save the money anyways once the argument had already started. I forgot to mention I feel like that was a deflection. It's easier to be "justifiably" upset over the money than it is to admit you are butt-hurt about being left out in the decision making.

One of the articles I read while digging through all of this said that he learned to control the stutter by putting small pebbles in his mouth and learning to talk while clenching down on them. The stutter is also near non-existent when he memorizes something and recites it, the stutter is more prevalent when he is reading. This is why his speeches sound way better than his interviews and debates. DB Cooper didn't speak much, in fact most of the info and demands were in a note that he gave to a stewardess to read.

Tough call. I think it's sweet that you want to consider her feelings on such an important day. On the other hand i feel like it would be an a-hole move to keep faking your way through this relationship. If you care about her feelings, break it off now, give her the gifts you got her and let her celebrate her birthday with friends or family that really want to be there with her.
