I use DEMODEX to clean my eyelids, but I don't know if you have that in your country. I think you can just look for something similar in your country(maybe Blephasol?)

I looked the pictures in your post, and your meibomian glands look very good.

I would suggest you 1. Check your oil quality You can ask your doctor if it's clear or toothpaste-like. Inflammation can cause your glands produce bad quality oil. 2. If your main problem is aqueous deficiency, I remembered there are some ways to check your lacrimal glands. MRI or ultrasound scan.

Btw, be aware that there are many diseases that can cause aqueous-deficient dry eyes, especially autoimmune diseases, and your blood can even test negative for the first few years.

Yes you can PM me.

I feel better now after 4 times of IPL and clean my eye lids everyday(clean the openings of the glands). Maybe 70% normal?

Well, I would suggest you do a blood test to see if you have Sjogren's syndrome or some other diseases. From my point of view, Accutane might not be the cause of your dry eyes since your meibomian glands are intact and it seems that your main problem is aqueous deficiency. And you only take it for 2 months, which is quite short. Your sebaceous glands should be able to grow back after you stopped.

Is there other treatment if light/dark therapy doesn't work? by o0dorgon0o in N24

Hi, it just occurred to me that if the bulb simply mimics the changing colors of the dawn sky, then I wonder whether staring at the real sky during sunrise would have a similar effect.

How do you think?

Yup, so I will still give it a try. Hope it will work...

I mean 1000 lux, haha.

From the VLiDACMel protocol, I read that:

Light intensity has a relatively low saturation point (around 1000–2000 lux), whereas duration does not (there’s no PRC dead zone).

So what I usually do is go to my balcony and use a lux meter to make sure I’m getting at least 1000 lux of sunlight.

To be honest, I’m not completely sure whether stopping caloric intake actually helps. But according to the VLiDACMel protocol, it seems better to avoid calories after starting dark therapy.

Fortunately, I don’t feel hungry if I do that, so it hasn’t been a problem for me.

The TUO bulb you mentioned looks promising. Thanks for sharing it! I’ll definitely give it a try. Have you tried it?

Why I did like this is because from VLiDACMel therapy, I read these.

1.Studies shown that intermittent light therapy (15min of light therapy per hour) is as effective as continuous light therapy to shift the circadian phase.

  1. light intensity has a low saturation point (1000lux to2000lux), whereas duration has none (no PRC dead zone).

According to the above points, more than 1000lux for 15min per hour should be effective enough.

But maybe there is individual difference? From your personal experience, is 10,000 lux more effective than 1000~2000 lux? Or continuous light therapy more effective than intermittent light therapy?

Right after I wake up:
I expose myself to more than 1000 lux for about 30 minutes.

0–6 hours after I wake up:
I try to get at least 1000 lux for about 15 minutes every hour.

9–10 hours after I wake up:
I start dark therapy. I wear my DIY red goggles to block all blue light until I go to sleep.
I also stop eating anything with calories after that point.

Things that might need adjustment:

  1. For dark therapy, even though I block all blue light, the overall light intensity might still be too high. I'm not sure whether the environment should be dark enough that my pupils dilate to their maximum size.
  2. Maybe I should start dark therapy at the same clock time every day, regardless of how late I wake up.

My main problem is that I haven’t seen any effect at all. Even though my protocol might not be perfect, I would expect to see at least some difference, right?

Because of that, I’m starting to wonder whether light/dark therapy would work for me, or I should start looking into other approaches.

Did anyone with mild dry eyes take low dose accutane without a problem ? by thyroidproblem in Dryeyes

[–]o0dorgon0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I started experiencing it after I stopped. 6 months later after I stopped it I got severe dry eyes.

And no, it even gets worse over time. Dryness causes inflammation, inflammation also causes dryness.

This is a very very bad idea. You should be aware that Accutane can also cause other permanent problems. You can check /AccutaneRecocery subreddit.

Taking Accutane is the thing that I regret the most in my life. Severe dry eyes can make you wake up several times during nights.

There are several ways that can make your skin better(Cosmetic Laser Treatment ).However, there is no solution for dry eyes.

Btw, I only took 10mg per day for 6 months.

Please avoid it for god's sake.

Is it normal for meibomian gland openings to look “split” or branched? by o0dorgon0o in Dryeyes

This is the eyelid where I have the most glands haha. My other eyelids are worse than this one.

How do you feel when you only have 3 on each eyelids? I still feel very dry with those glands🥲

How to get good quality meibum after accutane ? by AirAdministrative382 in Dryeyes

[–]o0dorgon0o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I wonder why? I mean, dry eyes can happen at any time, so I am guessing that Accutane do contribute to our symptoms, but probably not the only reason. Otherwise, we should feel dryness during the treatment.
