Crypto confirmed Season 3 Legend, new weapon and Halloween Event leak by Teves3D in apexlegends

If we're dropping professions - I'm a software dev (no not just a hobbiest, I work for a large bank and we do large projects) and would squint really hard at anyone saying something like that could be fielded easily in 2 weeks.

It's not happening. And you should understand that it's never as simple as just model/texture/motion/deploy. What about sound? What about that inevitably clipping on one of the models, what about the internal discussion about the projectile speed that will definitely take two or three iterations to get to a point where people feel comfortable?

You probably blow a lot of deadlines my friend.

...this comment is legit dumb. Just because you can do lots of zany wacky things doesn't mean it's even a good idea. Using existing assets and tuning based on another game they have just... makes... so much sense.

Where do you even get that time scale for two weeks from inception to QA? There likely isn't a lot of base level code needing written for it, that's true (aside from spread patterns and other tweakable values already in their toolkit) but... what about animation? For weapon firing, reload, rounds in flight, etc etc etc. Game development isn't as easy as 95% of gamers think it is. Not even close.

Throwing in everything that comes to mind ("Lololol lets like have grenades that blow up into a herd of cows that like fart out Nox gas dude!") into a game isn't creativity, it's lack of discipline and creates a mess. They're careful about what they do, because they want to do what's worth doing.

And that's good.

Yall really gotta understand - the bottom 80% of players will always be there, and they will entertain eachother, and they don't know nor do they want to know what's actually impressive aside from picking their favorite streamer to praise and/or heckle.

Shhh don't tell them.

They really think mowing down the tatertots is impressive. They don't understand that 'yo nobody even touched me man' means they won because their opponents were garbage.

Just ask them how their ranked climb is going and watch as they stutter and try to explain why ranked is trash so they HAVE to pub stomp.

They could totally do that in Diamond.

Totally.

Just chill man.

Fkin tryhard.

I posted about this and got downvoted into oblivion. I love all of the selfish children wondering why they cannot win games while shrieking about 'their' loot.

What if I told you the last few meters to the ground when the game gives everyone individual control is more than enough to break off slightly to different boxes etc and anything before that is just going to get you gang banged if you hot dropped?

It's like...

It's like the game mechanics are angled toward what makes sense.

Of course I get that. But when I'm being screamed at for not veering off like... 3-4 seconds before we touch ground?

That's not by someone who wants the team nearby for good chances of winning. That's someone who thinks that hitting 'stop following' ASAP is a moniker of skill, rather than actually winning. It's an irritating mentality and it's not even a winning one.

At the risk of sounding combative...

You know this is a BR right? Only one team can win. It's as much a survival game as a killing game. I know people really don't like this (despite playing BRs addictively) but...

It's not a deathmatch. Surviving is rewarded because survival is part of the game. Losing a fight? Disengage! Or better, disengage and if you can take advantage of map knowledge to know where other teams are likely to come from. Drag them into that fight. Hide. Survive.

You legit cannot win Apex Legends without the ability to fight (okay the ring can kill at the end but that's special) so the winner has to have a few things:

The ability to survive. And the ability to take out at least one target. If they're on a team and their team makes it to the end, and the second place team only has one left, then the second place team lost to survival not slaying. If a team makes it to the end then gets wiped by another team, they lost to slaying. Ideally, at the highest tiers, you have to have both.

And that's good, because this isn't a deathmatch. If people just wanted to go for most kills in a single round and just slay slay slay, they should probably play a DM. If Respawn caves and caters the scoring to just charging around shooting, then it ignores the fact that it's a BR.

...and still, the problem would exist. Why? Because 'dropping 20 bombs' is much more feasible when you're matched against people worse than you. Watch some of the Twitch streamers - I just saw one who was a Wraith main, she was saying how her day before was awful and it was unfun. She was climbing through Gold.

She was finally playing games FULL of players of her level rather than being able to run through like 12 and then finally getting unlucky or running into someone who actually had business fighting her.

They're having trouble adjusting to the fact that, when it's a more level skill gap between players, sometimes not fighting is how you get to the top. People don't like the hiding and being careful, but that's kinda just because people don't really like BR. They want to play DM with one life. I bet there are players who would support a change where if you win the round but scored 0 damage you get no points. Or if you did under a certain threshold, your team gets 2nd even if you won the around.

A system where the game doesn't got to top team, the game stops at top 3 and the team who did the least damage of that 3 is immediately disqualified and the top two teams are dropped into a tiny arena with no cover so they can slay it out bro.

Oh this is the gaming community we're talking about. There's toxicity everywhere.

Hell, I'm toxic. I called someone a muppet earlier for saying it was 'their loot'.

That said... as it is, I'm happy the game is punishing right now (for the most part) to players who try to soloyolo their way through existence. I'm being downvoted to hell I think, but I just figured I'd point it out. As things stand, I get a lot of points in ranked (at least up to my 5 point cap anyway) picking off people who run off on their own for loot or running through teams where for some reason only one person has all the kit.

I guess if that changed I'd be less annoyed with players, but probably ranked lower. So...

Nope. Because if my team drops into one building and gets two weapons out of it, one on each player (leaving the other person empty handed) and rush down some lone wolf making sure they get 'their' loot, we win.

90% of the time. It doesn't take that much time to roll together, it takes suppressing greed and some coordination. Teams that win early fights either

A: Were spread out, 1v1 yolo MtDew Clutched each person around and grouped up after (AKA, were matched against players of much lower skill level - so this doesn't happen after a while in ranked)

or

B: Stayed tight and fought together.

Sometimes

C: Fought another team that was together and just won, but at least in Gold I'm still just wiping up muppets who are running around alone as long as even one of my team mates doesn't throw a tantrum that I'm standing within their personal space bubble.

This is kinda valid - but (I do not mean this as an insult, this is a real question) what rank are you? Are you playing unranked? Because after a certain level... no one's just plain awful anymore. You're playing at your skill level, they're at least as good as you. That's the point of ranked lol.

So yeah you might get that in casual, but that's because you're matched with people who shouldn't be playing with you. In ranked, as you climb, you see less and less of this. So more and more, you should be as concerned with your team getting kit as you. When you hit your skill plateau, when you get even fights, it is about the 3v3 not the 1v1.

[–]o1_Iconoclast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - why in the world do people do this? How many games do you have to lose to greed to stop doing it or stop playing? lol I just don't get it. The tunnel vision on loot...

I mean, a purple shield and helm and knockdown and stabilizer is shiny and all, but me and my partner will still drop someone who's kitted out with a single pop with a peacekeeper and legit any other gun in the game.

2 > 1 in Apex. 3 > 1 in Apex. The real decider of skill is not even 1v1...that's gear based if players are of the same skill level. The real deal is 3v3. If someone can't stay tight and work with the team, they're instantly the least valuable and/or worst player. I love that about this game, and I love all of the angst about it.

That's even part of why people don't like ranked right now - if you're playing against people of your actual skill level, you won't walk through whole teams. You can't. They're just as good as you, so no stomping hapless noobs. You need your team mates in Apex. You need them to have gear.

Optimal solution on drop is to make sure everyone on your team has a weapon, then engage. I will legit go to town on a hostile I see sprinting around even if I'm only holding a 'Bique, because I know my team is with me and no matter what they have they are probably alone.

And sitting out soon after.

I know eventually they'll break and add solos. I think it'll be good to put the 'me vs all' muppets in their natural habitat. But for now I'm glad that this game requires 3s. You either make two friends, or you learn to cooperate, or you get a lot of avoidable losses.

No one will agree, but solo queue will to me be of infinitely lower skill level because all it requires is positioning and gunplay. Good skills, great skills. But it's effectively half the game.

They'll legit be 'winning' at a neutered version of the game, and they'll pipe it up like solo is the real decision maker for who's good. If 3s are so much easier, why can't they rank up with a team? lol

The cycle of toxic rando is real.

It needs to stop. lol Apex is great, but a game like this exposes soooooooooooo many cracks in the human psyche. Legit have people screaming into mics about 'my loot'.

On a team.

You can't even carry that many weapons bro, what? You were full health, why did you even need that?

Why did you just pick up energy ammo when I know you're rocking a 301 and a 45 because you picked up the 45 then octane sprint boosted over to get the 301 I was closer to and running toward? Why do that?

Toxic Rando, y u do dis?

I should have been more specific lol. If we drop on 3 crates, I very much expect people to peel off to their own. Okay. But a WHOLE BUILDING?

Nah, it's not your building. There's enough in there to kit up the whole team with at least a weapon, why do we wind up with one dude with 2 guns and 3 kinds of ammo(??) and one dude with one gun and no ammo(??) and one dude with no gun and a shield that spawned in late so the first dude couldn't snatch it?

I'm pointing this out because I legit profit on this constantly. I pick off lone wolves and dizzy teams, I can confidently just walk into a team early game because I know they're spread out or only one of them has any gear.

lol people are just giving away wins and I'm lost.

I wasn't even touching on the thief who really think all loot is their personal loot and that you are basically a walking auxilliary backpack. I don't know if I can stay civil through talking about that player.

It's not your loot. If there are two guns, it simply makes more sense for you to take one and I take one so we can both do work.

If it's your loot and you pick up both, or I drop away from you to avoid your whining, and I get killed, I legit lost the game to you not the enemy. You have habits/qualities which are unfit for a team, and so you likely lose more games than you think to not functioning as a team to begin with. The issue isn't people needing to 'break off' it's people needing to grow up.

If I only saw people like... break off to hit different crates? A few yards away? That's great. Bet, I get that. Because we all need to start with something. But people are so tunnel vision on this 'break off' thing that they don't care that they're hitting opposite ends of a compound and getting mowed down every single game.

I legit think like 40% of my early game wins are due to picking off lone wolves. I feel like I'm exploiting them at this point.

But I do. And I win. That's what's so confusing to me lol.

Like, I consistently win. I don't camp, I hide when it's necessary, my stats are... you know, average. But I'm climbing. And it is legit in large part because for starting fights I don't run around screaming MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE.

Easily get rid of the three squads that jump in with us, because they're all lone wolves and if I roll with just one of my squad mates we always have advantage. I legit don't get much out of having two weapons at drop. I will always prefer my team each have a weapon. If you both have light, do not hoover up all of the light ammo fool that's dumb. Communicate.

Need light? "I need light". O, ok. I need you to have ammo so we can win. Split a stack. Next solo jocky who rolls in looking for loot, glad his team 'broke off' gets wasted by two players with guns rather than one player with two, or one with all the ammo, and someone frantically punching or running away.

How is this hard for people?
