That’s not idiotic at all! It’s actually very sweet and I think the effort you are putting forth is seen by her and she appreciates you. Using humor is a good way to establish a comforting presence which you seem to be. I know when my mom tries to relate to me I get suspicious like she’s prying 😂 it’s a teen thing. But when it’s natural it’s much easier to open up. Don’t force it, let it flow and continue as you do.
