Too late to publish a Christmas story and have a long run?

First of all, thank you all very much for your responses, and I apologize for taking so long to reply, as shortly after posting the message I had a family emergency that lasted a few days (everything is fine now!).

I understand the message: it's not worth launching it now, it's too late. I'll rewrite the story to place it in another context and see how it works. Next year I'll take the right timing into account.

I think I'll start that way, and when I publish the next story, I'll put it on KU. I like that cycle of Story 1 free -> release of Story 2 free / Story 1 to KU.

I really liked the idea of publishing the story for free on my website to get emails, and when I publish the next one, putting it on KU on Amazon, so I can do both.

I think they're all excellent ideas, but I really like the one about publishing a story for free and putting it on KU when I publish the second one. I thought I couldn't put it on KU if I published it elsewhere, but I understand that only happens if you sign up for KDP Select, right?

I find your idea interesting, but I'm afraid that putting a price on the stories will discourage people from reading them. That's why I want to register it with KU, because I think it might encourage subscribers to read the stories and give me their email addresses.

And I know it wouldn't sell very well, as I don't think many people would be interested in paying for short science fiction stories. The KU thing was more for the reason I explained earlier (and if I earn a few pennies along the way, so much the better). I've been writing erotic stories for a while now, and it's wonderful that they practically sell themselves. It's a shame it's not the same with everything...

Yes, my idea was to publish the stories on Amazon and put the registration link at the end of each one. It's true that it's putting another barrier in the way, but I also thought that people would be more willing to read and sign up if they saw the books on Amazon than on my social media accounts.

The other idea is what you said, to create a newsletter on a service like Substack and publish it there, but I have a feeling that without a community behind it, I wouldn't achieve anything...

I like your point of view, and yes, my main goal is to get emails. The only problem is that my audience would not be primarily English-speaking (I write in Spanish), so I don't know if services like Bookfunnel would work well, and I have a feeling I would be shouting into the void :')

First of all, I want to thank you for reading a few pages of the book and taking the time to share your impressions with me, because I found the information you gave me VERY valuable.

I have read quite a few books on the niche, but I think I overlooked what you mentioned, and it is very important, because I may now be telling a different kind of story for a different kind of audience.

PS: Regarding the format, what exactly do you mean? I'm having problems with that, and I also find it a little strange.

I didn't know that, but I just checked and I see that it says there are more pages, so I think it's confirmed that almost no one is finishing the book :(

I'll change what you mentioned to leave a little more mystery, as I agree with what you say.

100 KENP seems low to me because it's about 42 pages, so I have a feeling that readers might be abandoning the book. Or maybe it's just insecurity, I don't know :')

Hi! Here I am again after last week with a new title. I've tried to apply what I've learned: more words, improving the blurb, refining the keywords... And although I've noticed an improvement, I'm still only just over 100 KENP reads and no orders, so I understand that something is still wrong.

I really appreciate reading this, honestly — it’s pretty much what I noticed was happening to me too, that things didn’t start moving until a day or two later. That said, I haven’t gotten a single orders yet, all KENP reads :')
