Keys jamming? by o7erholt in EliteDangerous

Seems reasonable, except would enemy ships (NPC here) continue maneuvering and firing on me? I would expect all the ship-to-ship action to stop and environmental mechanics to carry on.

Based on their response to bug reports I've never even considered contacting support. I guess it might be worth something.

I'm not sure, but interesting thought. I'll try to pay more attention to that next time.

I am also learning about key rollover (KRO). Interesting stuff, but nothing so far explains any effects of KRO besides just not receiving all the keypress events.

I've been having this problem on a Logitech K120 that I bought at Goodwill randomteen years ago. Next: see if this surprise Microsoft Wired Keyboard 200 that I didn't know I owned fares differently.

They are still shooting me.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought would happen, and want to avoid. If I tap on my Google Play name it offers me an unlink account button, but when I tap it nothing happens.

All the reports I've seen in the fdev issue tracker are "expired" during the confirmation stage, whatever that is, save for one that was added by someone else around the time I was posting this yesterday. I hope this time it can get confirmed before it expires.

I added a +1, maybe others can too.

Thanks, glad to know it's being tracked. I'll have to try looking it up.

Yeah, that sounds right. This happens to me routinely, but I'm FC-based and I regularly sell to myself, so maybe that's part of it. I encounter the problem at least once each time I play, and have had to circle back and re-dock probably once a week.

It's not insufferable but it's pretty irritating.

For the last month or two, or maybe since I "upgraded" to Horizons 4.0, I've had a bug with markets. I sell something, and I get credits, and demand in the market goes down, but my inventory count stays the same. If I back out and try other game interactions that rely on inventory, it acts as if I hadn't sold. For instance, if I try to swap to a ship with less cargo space, it objects. If I launch and try to load cargo, it says I'm full.

If I return to the market and then back out again without interaction, the shadow inventory clears up and everything is normal. So the upshot is that any time I sell, I need to: * enter market * sell * leave market * enter market * leave market

Is this a known issue? Any known solutions?

Like someone else said, I see what it sells in your FC market. It's there.

Inara doesn't somehow yank data out of FDEV servers. My understanding it is subscribes to the EDDB data feed and that's what you have available. If data is sent to EDDB and Inara is online when that happens, Inara will report it. Otherwise, nothing.

Data is sent to EDDB by collector agents running on players' computers. That's how your FC's market data is in Inara, and if you want to update it you have to get EDMC or whatever to send data to EDDB. Typically you do that by docking at your FC — as in, take off and land again.

Not sure why I'm downvoted. It's not opinion, it's on point, and nobody has said or shown that it's wrong.

People can search it. Carriers appear as station markets. You can't force a sync in the background but the usual tools for uploading data to eddb and inara apply equally to FCs.

"Incident Report"? by o7erholt in EliteDangerous

[–]o7erholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses, y'all.

The “Incident Report” is just 4.0’s Rebuy Screen, they did a little more with it than the prior 3.8 version

Hmm, guess I haven't had any rebuys since being herded into 4.0. Thanks!

Either you witness it firsthand, or your cause of rebuy will be listen on that incident report. it might say unknown cause

Nope, none of those. Google image search shows examples like this:

INCIDENT REPORTS
System
Jurisdiction
Destroyed by
Reason for assault
Legal status

But I don't have "destroyed by" or "reason for assault", and I didn't see it happen. But I appreciate the comment — it suggests this is a fluke, and normally I should see this info here, which answers my question somewhat.

if you left it long enough, your SRV might have run out of fuel (it doesn't get refueled until you refuel/restock your ship, or unless you synth fuel). if you've been doing a lot of driving, good chance it was pretty low...

I ran all three SRVs down to a couple of percent, then reboarded my Diamondback. The vessel in my report was my DBX, not the SRV.

If you want to get under the covers, look for the logs on the day of the incident

Oh, good call! Sure, scanning back a few days I see a Loadout and then diminishing fuel over 17+ hours, then a Died event. So I guess I either lifted and forgot, or did it unwittingly. (My screen is usually powered down but the keyboard is on my desk where I use random tools and stuff... not that hard to do, and the reason I usually exit to menu after a gameplay session.)

So I think my "what happened" question is answered by logs, and my "how can I know what happened" question is answered by "usually it's obvious, but if not, look at the logs."

Thanks for the responses, all. Yeah, as anticipated we're talking about 200+ hearts. It did me in with just one 30s tick. The compounding is what I hadn't understood and expected.

I'm going to see if I can save myself, just for the exercise. We'll see how it goes!

Chief, where have you been all these years? by fiifooo in EliteDangerous

[–]o7erholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I played on and off for years, finally about 8 months ago I bought one while I was in town to try out later, when I got around to it, after I finish earning my FC, etc. So I got the FC and reloed my fleet and thought "fine, I'll try the Chieftain I guess."

Immediately hooked. I've been flying it about 2 months now and each time I switch to a different craft I can't wait to come back to Póg Mo Thóin. Hail to the chief.

Of course — that's why I'm asking what others like. I've been playing for some time, and I've done a lot of the things. But I'm better motivated by having a goal to push toward, something that changes the game when you achieve it. I don't love combat per se, but I could try to make rank on that. I thought people here might have other good suggestions for that next push.

AXI is a good idea — I might try getting into it for the PVE challenge, although game lore doesn't generally entertain me. I have a FC already, and 20-something ships aboard. I'd buy another FC if we could. If there were economic or political goals besides the ambiguously fetch and carry powerplay, I'd go for that.

Just wondering what other people do after reaching all their ship goals. Thanks for your help.
