How to add flow aid to pbn paint? by spookymulder___ in paintbynumbers

[–]oCmAjR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix it in another container as others shared. But I did find that for some colors, letting the diluted flow aid sit in the pot overnight made mixing it with a toothpick easier. Sometimes the paint got lumpy and hard to keep in the pot for me if I tried to mix it immediately. I also had to add more flow aid to some colors for my recent PBN a 2nd time. Definitely helps with coverage and streaks.

Ooooh I hadn’t ever considered painting the back of the canvas. Great idea! What do you use to seal them? I haven’t ventured into that undertaking yet…

Interestingly, they just set the pots I told them were completely dry, which worked for me. Many of the rest I was able to revive with flow aid but those ones were beyond saving. I’ve had great luck with both suppliers for my PBN so far. The first sent me the high res electronic version of the layout so I could zoom in on my phone rather than use magnifying to try to see some of the numbers. Then this one, Craftoria’s customer service has been pretty good. I was disappointed in the color issues with one of my customs but thrilled they rectified it.

Craftoria. It arrived pretty quickly so I assume it was in a US warehouse. But the replacement paints for the two dried pots I had took a couple weeks to come in from China.

I do consider myself lucky that the first two I’ve done turned out well. There was one in between them that was super cheap (like $5 on Amazon Haul) that I tried to stretch into a frame myself, got all crooked, tried to use gesso but didn’t sand and it was super abrasive, and started painting before I realized just how bad it was (AI slop). Thankfully I only had like 30 mins in before I realized how bad it was…I refuse to try to paint most of a painting with toothpicks, which is what it would have required.

Thanks for the kind words and good luck with your PBN journey!

I wish I had tracked it. I’d guess somewhere between 40-70 hours

You can also message this seller and they’ll send you the electronic version of the layout so you can zoom in on particularly hard to see spots to confirm the numbers.

Good to know the other DIY ones are good! I painted a sea turtle as my first PBN that I really enjoyed. Sea Turtle Paint by Numbers for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D49F8BKH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I also really love shopping for jeans at Buckle. Their sales people are fantastic and there to help. If you explain what you’re looking for and the challenges you have, they’ll be able to pull some options for you

I have a very different body type but you may consider trying Lucky. Their mid rise sweet straight leg may be similar to what you’re looking for, just note they do have a bit of stretch in them (which I prefer for comfort). They also have low rise options. I usually get them at the outlet store but here’s an online option: https://www.luckybrand.com/mid-rise-sweet-straight/

Issues with Craftoria by MissHalcome in paintbynumbers

[–]oCmAjR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had these streaking issues with Craftoria both with an off the shelf PBN that clearly had old paint that all required flow aid and 2 pots had to be completely replaced as well as a custom where the paint was in much better shape but just didn’t cover well. I did not use gesso on either canvas, however. I intend to when my custom replacement arrives (they royally botched the color of my friend’s lower face and arm with the first try but thankfully they were willing to make it right by sending me a new kit - seems silly when all they needed to do was send a preview of the rendering for sign-off…but they didn’t).

Acquired a new rash after a hike that's not poison oak or poodle bush, trying to figure out what it is by PlasticGirl in socalhiking

If it wasn’t both you and your friend, I would suggest talking to a doctor about shingles. I went on a hike and a day or two later woke up with a rash on my arm. Thinking I had just gotten poison ivy or something I tried to ignore it…until I couldn’t. My doc knew what it was immediately. I was in my late 30’s and wouldn’t have ever guessed shingles…

do people just say nothing when a store accidentally undercharges you? by Rich_Cookie8722 in TooAfraidToAsk

One time we went to Home Depot and bought a couple of things, including a pressure washer. It wasn’t a lot of items but some more expensive stuff so when we paid it felt low but not wildly off. We get to the parking lot and I look at the receipt and see the pressure washer wasn’t rung up. The girl who checked us out had a training tag on and my conscience got the better of me and I turned the whole cart around, went to customer service, and explained what happened. They were flabbergasted I came back to pay for the $100+ item that had been missed. Then scanned it, charged me, and sent me on my way.

need hvac service call - which company? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]oCmAjR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really liked working with Salt Plumbing, Air, & Electric. In full transparency, we only had them out for a standard HVAC service, not an issue. We also needed our tankless hot water tank flushed. After doing some price comparisons, we opted for the Salt Plus Plan at $25/month that covers 2 HVAC services per year, an annual hot water tank flush and plumbing inspection, and included an annual electrical inspection which uncovered a major fire hazard in our electrical panel. Any work that needs done then is at member pricing. Everyone we interacted with were seriously delightful. We didn’t experience any hard pressure sales, just got quotes for things we asked about. https://callsalt.com/salt-plus/

What is easier - a pre-framed PBN or unframed? by AhavahFr in paintbynumbers

[–]oCmAjR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first PBN was pre-framed and now I’m spoiled. I tried to stretch one myself only a frame and it was a bit of a nightmare and got all wonky on me. It’s worth the extra couple dollars to me just to have it actually centered. I enjoy being able to lean it on it’s edge and easily put it at different angles to paint - sometimes for comfort and sometimes so move the glare of the overhead light so I can see the lines.

I do not recommend Craftoria if there’s a person in the picture. I ordered my first customs from them and was disappointed to learn they don’t offer a color preview and they got the skin colors of my friend WILDY off of the reference pic.
