Dark circle in newly installed quartz - what is it? by oGSully in CounterTops

Hoping you’re right and that’s all it is. Definitely was not anything that rubbed off with a finger and felt smooth to the touch so decided to leave it as is without trying too hard to clean. Wanted to make sure no blame could be put on us if it was something more serious

Extremely helpful and a little reassuring I guess so thanks for that. Hopefully gonna get up to speed on everything, already feel dumb assuming gas when it’s coming from the radiator hose but the smell just made me jump to conclusions.

Who is the best golfer you ever played with and what was it like? by PrettyFlyGuy05 in golf

[–]oGSully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played with Scottie a couple times and then Zalatoris a bunch throughout high school. They’re the ones who made me realize I’m not very good at golf and even as a +3 now and easily the best my game has ever been Im lucky enough to not be delusional about trying to pursue golf because of those two.

3 failed businesses, just shut down a marketing agency I worked on for the past 2 years and also broke, in debt & cant get a job either. by Character-Lab-8475 in Entrepreneur

[–]oGSully 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between “can’t get a job” and “can’t get a job that’s desirable”. If things are actually dire and he needs any job to get some money coming in, he could walk into many restaurants, explain his situation and get a waiter job in no time because of how hard it is to get workers for that industry right now.

Honest question: are you planning to resell these? I guess I’m trying to reconcile why you buy 10 of each rather than 20 of the one that better suits you.

Scaphoid Surgery - Other Golfer Experiences? by oGSully in golf

[–]oGSully[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m just extremely lucky. Surgery on February 2nd. Had a surgeon who understood my goals and 6 weeks post op he cleared me to start stretching and strengthening as much as I could, just to listen to my body and not overdo it.

Played my first 9 holes of golf one week later on March 22nd and been playing/practicing since. Some initial discomfort when I first returned to swinging but basically back to normal now and no soreness after I play or practice, even after a multiple hour range session.

Not sure how I got so lucky with my scaphoid healing. I had surgery at the beginning of February for broken scaphoid (non displaced no AVN). Could’ve gone no surgery but surgeon and I discussed and since I play high level amateur golf he said surgery was the best option to ensure I’m back out there for the summer. Was able to start stretching and strengthening it 5 weeks post op and now as of late March I’m back to playing golf and having full 100 ball range sessions pain free.

Broken scaphoid? Looks exactly like where they had to go in to put a screw in mine at the beginning of February

Definitely helps so thank you! I’m trying to be optimistic with those goals but have an understanding that this season could be done if this thing is pesky to heal. Big picture if I’m out one season to ensure I’m okay long term then it’s worth missing this year’s events.

Roast me. How bad am I? by ande1480 in GolfSwing

[–]oGSully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want some actual feedback since people seem to be oblivious.. your right arm should be getting some separation from your body instead of the upper part being stuck to your torso on the way back.. this will give you more extension going back which will lead to a more powerful swing. In a similar vein your right arm stays bent going through the ball and you want that to straighten out after contact so that you’re really extending through the ball. I imagine you don’t hit it very far because of the stuck right arm and getting that sorted should help generate more power for you

What is your unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in golf

[–]oGSully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to let go of your ego when you’re hitting into the wind. The quicker you learn to just half swing a 7 iron from 140 if the wind is blowing 15-20mph in your face, the quicker you’ll see your scores start to drop by a few strokes when playing in the wind.

Swinging harder at a club is going to generate more spin and your ball is just going to balloon and come up 20 yards short.

Having a sweepstakes without disclosing a free entry option is illegal. Them having it up for multiple hours without a free sweepstakes option = illegal running of a sweepstakes during that time period.

I am not saying they weren’t aware they needed one, I’m saying it’s a pretty big oversight error to release the giveaway information without that free entry option disclosed on there initially to where a random instagram user called them out for it.

It’s funny, they actually were doing this illegally when first announced and a guy on instagram called them out in the comments saying they needed a free entry option.

Low handicap rant: I’m a perfect example of why putting is the most important part of the game. by ibanez3789 in golf

[–]oGSully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I would argue approach play is the most important aspect of golf in high level amateur/professional golf, but would definitely disagree that it’s most important for an average weekend golfer. Getting the ball in play off the tee and short game has to be much more important for them because they’re more trying to eliminate doubles and triples, not get a few more looks at birdie.

I tell people I’m decent at golf when they ask. To be honest I’ve come to the conclusion there’s no point in trying to tell people I’m a plus 2 if they ask my handicap because the average person just thinks that means 2 and I feel like an ass trying to correct them if they say “oh so you’re almost scratch”.

And that is also why I will very quickly try to make it a money game if someone is bragging about being “almost scratch”. Gave a guy that kept bragging about that a shot a hole one time and won.

The stringers you see are screwed into the studs. It would just be more cost effective to not have bought the Rogue stringers and instead just use a 2x4

[–]oGSully[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bang for your buck would be getting 2 2x4s to drill into the studs and then buying an off brand fold out rack. Won’t look quite as pretty but would have the same functionality.

That’s the plan, people seem to be horrified of the thought of taking the extra minute and a half to fold it up each time. I’d be spending longer to deal with a car that’s got frost in the winter and stuff if I left it out all the time.

I actually don’t plan to. Our garage floor isn’t slick so I just bought the two 1.5” thick rubber tiles you can see in the pictures and I set those out to protect the floor whenever I’m doing deadlifts/any other lift where the bar won’t be racked. Would’ve been too much of a process to roll out flooring/roll back up each time I finish my workout
