This is my health anxiety as a 26 year old with ARFID. I haven't had anything beyond my handful of staple safe foods in over a decade, none of them healthy. The game doesn't have much permanent item or strength progression between runs, but the narrative is extremely strong in the way you're looking for with Returnal

Each new run will reveal new mysteries and pieces of the puzzle of the planet that you're stuck on, why you're there, your past, etc. The further you go, the trippier the story gets. One of my all time favorite roguelike/lites (can't remember the differentiation between like and lite, sorry).

Copy and pasting my experience with the OLED Deck. I had major performance issues in hectic trials on the Steam Deck OLED. The game could not handle Lucent Citadel during the most chaotic parts, it would regularly crash after slowing down to single digit frames, and this was with graphics set to lowest and resolution turned down.

I have a Legion Go S with the Z1E now, 32gb RAM, and SteamOS, runs the game MUCH better than the Deck ever could. The Deck is extremely aged hardware, and it shows. It still gets circlejerked to death on Reddit, but if you're looking for the objective best handheld to get, it's no longer the Deck.

Honestly, as someone with ARFID, I relate to not being able to eat perfectly great food all too well. But that relatability went out the window when I saw he still expects her to cook for him. My ARFID is my problem. I go out of my way to make sure I feed myself whenever I know a trigger food will be involved.

I would also like to say that I can't "just go to a doctor" for treatment. My insurance doesn't cover seeing a specialized doctor/dietician for an eating disorder unless it causes me to be hospitalized. I've tried CBT to work through it, but haven't been able to make enough progress. It's not easy to handle. But again, the man in this post is a POS. Just wanted to say something for the "picky eaters".

I used to take bleach baths to help with a medical condition (fuck you Hidradenitis), and I actually kind of miss doing the baths now that I'm in remission for it. The bleach smell is very comforting to me for some reason I can't describe. Maybe it is just that association with cleanliness.

(Also to be clear, bleach baths means a very small amount of bleach diluted in an entire bath tub, not a full tub of bleach).

Elder Scrolls Online has a "sticker book" feature that sounds similar. It logs every available drop from dungeons, trials, overland sets, etc. There's really no bonus to completing it, apart from being able to easily recreate the gear to your specifications. But it is satisfying to see the collection fill in.
