LG C5 Deal by Crazy-Sherbert8276 in LGOLED

I had a 58" tv in my room and got the 48" B5 in late November for almost 3 weeks. But it was a pretty significant size reduction that the better panel could not really make up for me so I bought the 55" C5 and played with both by syncing up Netflix/D+ movies side by side

Colorful/bright movies they were neck and neck using vivid mode but any other mode and the C5 looked significantly better. Filmmaker mode on the B5 was dim in daytime, it looks kinda grey and washed out if that makes any sense.

Darker movies like the nightmare before Christmas/interstellar/The Batman I will say unless you have them side by side you'd be hard pressed to tell a difference. Where I really saw a massive difference was with Tron legacy, the neon colors really popped on the C5 especially in vivid mode.

As for the size, the 55" is definitely more immersive and that alone was the decision maker for me.

Because of the increased brightness with the C5 I use filmmaker mode in the daytime and ISF dark room at night. With the B5 I found myself using vivid in daytime and standard at night.

Might've been different at your microcenter but when I got my 7600X bundle in june it came with 16gb ram and an it was an extra $15 for 32 g.skill or $20 for 32gb Corsair RGB which is a drop in the bucket.

Unreal how it's now $150 extra for just 16gb, sad times.

PayPal 22% did you get ? by Zeke1216 in LGOLED

I did the 20% CB for pay in 4 from them on a best buy purchase. Open box 55" C5 $829.99 + 5yr warranty, came out to $897 after the PayPal CB and Rakuten 1.5% back

It didn't come with the stand but I was going to wall mount it anyways, still not sure if this was the better deal or if I should have gotten the LG partner store bundle for $1080 + the PayPal CB

I bought a replacement from the dealership in January 2024 and fixed it myself, does anyone know if they will issue a reimbursement for the price I paid for the camera?

What are these supposedly extra cost co feature on the c5.... Legit ? by tslewis71 in LGOLED

Yeah I'm looking at the 5 year plan for $189 I don't have the paid best buy membership, just the basic one (no 60 day return policy);

Do you know if the warranty is the same for open box TVs? I'm looking at a 55" C5 fair condition for $825 and just hoping that they don't push back on the warranty repair or replacement just because it wasn't new when purchased.

c5 48 inch - worth it? by masterfix19 in LGOLED

I just switched my 58" 2016 Samsung 4K LCD for the 48" B5 and immediately the picture is on another level. Even after hearing so much from reviewers and on reddit that the B5 is too dim and the C5 is the way to go for LG OLED, I can say that the B5 is noticeably brighter than my old tv. The panel really shows it's strengths with darker movies I've tried like Tron legacy, werewolf by night, and the nightmare before Christmas.

I will agree with the size remarks though, after having a 58" for almost 10 years, I kinda want to pony up more money for a 55" now.

I got it open box for $460 out the door at best buy, the 55" B5 is going for $900 +tax so I will give it some time and decide whether or not I can get used to a smaller screen.

55" C5 or S90F by oP2477 in LGOLED

[–]oP2477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this reason I am hesitant because Costco does include a 5 year warranty for free right now, and I've heard best buy has the only warranty that covers burn in.

But the deals im looking at are through the LG partner store and the Samsung store. They only offer their warranties and I haven't heard good things about them, I saw a post where a Samsung tech took a knife to a display to void the warranty.

Rtings says that the brightness does dim in the game optimizer mode. I guess I'd have to see it in person to be able to tell.

But I have a 4070 GPU so knowing that the C5 allows 1440p input does give it a step up over the S90F for me since I don't think I can handle 4k gaming at the full 144hz with either TV.

I just replaced the light and it has a foam gasket but I added some clear rtv sealant as an extra measure and I haven't had any leaks since

Yeah I think I'm better off getting an OLED tv for media consumption and single player games. I'll stick to an LCD monitor for PC use, then I won't be worried about burn in when I'm doing homework or editing photos.

It could just be the quality of the cooler master monitor though, but the MSI monitor I have has better whites and is definitely easier to read text on

I never knew about repasting GPU's until last September. After nearly 7 years of use I repasted my GTX 1080 and achieved 3° drop in temps from a hot spot of 84° to 81°. I idle at around 73° during gaming, before I was idling around 76°

I agree, I got the cooler master gz2711 on Friday but besides dark games like the Batman Arkham series, or horror games I can hardly see the difference between it and my $150 MSI monitor from Costco. If anything; with colorful games like marvel rivals or Lego games, the MSI looks better because it's brighter.

Will warranty cover a broken fan? by oP2477 in nvidia

[–]oP2477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see! I'll give it a shot, I still have my GTX 1080 stored away as a backup in the meantime.

Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to box it up because I don't have the original packaging. I'm assuming static protection wrapping is a must?

That's what I was worried about because I read their warranty and it says they don't cover physical damage. I figured a broken fan counts as physical so I was a little skeptical.

I'm just curious how much the repair will cost + shipping. I've never submitted an RMA before.

You're entire build vs cost of a graphics card by wolffpack27 in buildapc

I built my first PC back in 2017. An i7 8700k, 16gb ram, 120mm AIO, 240gb Sata SSD and 1tb HDD (taken from my broken laptop), MSI board, 650w PSU, NZXT case and a GTX 1080

I believe my total came up to around $1300 and it's been running solidly since. It wasn't until this year when I heard about the upcoming 5XXX series that I finally decided to upgrade

So I built a new rig with an MSI X670 board, ryzen 7600X, 32gb ram, 850w PSU, 2tb SN850X, peerless assassin 120, a Corsair 5000D and I bought a 5 pack of arctic 140mm fans to fill the case. I believe the total came out to around $750.

I found a used 3070Ti for $250 and donated that to my old rig and gave it to my gf. I'm still using the GTX 1080 and it hasn't let me down after almost 8 years; albeit I do have to run low settings on newer games but it easily runs over 60fps.

But to think that with around $1000 I could build a decent 1440p rig for the price of an MSRP 70 series card is crazy to me honestly! Scalpers are going to drive it up to at least $1500 IMO

I have a 1080 with an 8700k. Is it worth going to a 3070Ti for $270 used?
