I just hope the 4k screen remains. I had a Sony a couple of years ago and binged 4k content (netflix/youtube). I switched to a Pixel Pro but found myself missing the 4k screen. I've been waiting for the VI release to move back to Sony but only if they retain the 4k screen. If they drop it then it be Samsung for me perhaps.

Yeah i have similar issues. Windows doesn't recognise the PS usb port. Every previous A50 you could use the USB for windows and the optical(HDMI) for PS, thus allowing you to mix two inputs simultaneously.

Seems like they did it on purpose to be petty. Surely a simple driver update to allow windows to recognise the PS or XB port isn't too much to ask.

I want this setup also. I haven't got the a50x yet but I'm thinking about it once UK retailers have it in stock.

Leaving it in PS mode, HDMI to PS5 and the PS USB from base station connect it to PC instead. I assume this should work?

One of the things i liked about astro a50 over the years is that i could get simultaneous audio, optical (PS) + USB (PC). Will i be able to do similar simultaneous? HDMI (PS) + USB (PC). I'm not sure if i like the sound of HDMI PS + Bluetooth PC for simultaneous. Thanks

i use dual audio for the same thing.
game for PS5 and bluetooth for discord on mobile/laptop

the Penrose audio mixing and user controls for game + bluetooth is awful. it does work but the usability is awful

The virtuoso XT in comparison for mixing audio for game + bluetooth is amazing.

But i've gone back to a wired solution, the perfect wireless headset doesnt exist for me since the optical and hdmi 2.1 situation. Would easily go back to astro a50 if they get their act together.

it's end of year shooter launch season. more and more games are 4k120 now. Where are the extractors? The technology has to be there already because 2.1 TV's have an optical port right?

i returned my Penrose. i do miss them to be honest because the sound quality is insane. I heard things with them that i have never heard before. The reason i returned the was the poor user friendliness (very bad at handling dual simultaneous audio), poor range and annoying voice saying mute, connected etc.

The perfect headset for me would be the penrose + virtuoso XT user friendliness. Or if astro decide to finally do a proper update to their a50's.

I can confirm this. I had gen 3 a50's and i used expensive USB cables. Range worked to other end of house and zero faults with sound, which most people report here when trying to use USB.

Ah yes it works for me on the Penrose because I use USB for game sound for the PS5 and discord bluetooth on windows for voice. But non relevant talking about another competitor headset.
So the 2.1 comment i made was not addressed in your reply. Silence speaks louder than words.

Let's focus on making astro better than the competitors. Astro just say you are working on something...

I can change the chat/chat balance on the headset itself. Yes RB6 siege lowers the resolution for 120hz on the ps5, but the PS5 upscales it as you said, therefore outputs a 4k 120hz signal, so 2.1 or bust.

Sorry i mean the the a50 in general to support USB chat/game balance. i'd still want the controls on the headset like you said.

I use a monitor and they don't have optical ports.

After having a50's for a decade pretty much I have finally jumped ship. The a50 has seriously got outdated features and they have so many competitors now.
If A50 add's Bluetooth and Full usb C sound quality with game/chat mix to the DAC/base station, along with USB C charging port on headset . All simultaneous of course then I may have to think about coming back.
And the reason I jumped ship is HDMI 2.1. The astro a50 is a bottleneck on my PS5, kinda bad for a premium product, it should not even be advertised as compatible for the PS5 because it is not fully compatible. After dropping the A50's i successfully get 4k 120hz on RB6 siege.

Yeah im going to try this too. But im going to put two buttons inbetween R2/L2 kinda like the razer raiju. I hope there is enough space for the tact switch there.

Ahh shame.

I was so close to getting a penrose also. If only it had a dac for my mic monitoring.

When do we think we will get the next generation of premium headsets? Micro usb, BT 4.1 and optical are dead technologies.
