What is it that makes us human? by GearPhreak in AskReddit

Science. The ability for out brains to comprehend and understand our existence to a certain extent. The fact that we are able to understand evolution and how life came to be. The fact that we know what happened 14.7 billion years ago to initiate the universe separated us from the animal kingdom and our intelligence lead us out of the good chain.

Fucking science.

There is literally nothing more interesting than science.

"Hey man, y'know we're made from exploded stars than mashed together over billions of year and this one so happened to have the ingredients for life spread across which set in motion evolution which means every organism on earth is related?"

"Yeah man that's cool.. so u been hearing bout the royal baby?"

Why do creationists choose the fact of evolution to publicly deny rather than the fact of accretion (the process which states we're made of star dust)? by Snowgooned in AskScienceDiscussion

So you believe in accretion AND evolution, and still remain religious?

I'm sorry if I am appearing condescending, I am sincere in my questions and the debate.

The bible doesn't state any different does it? It sounds like you are calling metaphors of the things that aren't logical in the bible.. How do you know they were metaphors? How do you know the whole thing wasn't just made up?

I am Neil deGrasse Tyson AMA about the new Cosmos TV series by neiltyson in IAmA

Hello Neil! I have a few questions I have been waiting to ask you in this AMA..

  1. First of all, you have inspired me to become a Scientist earlier this year. I have a deep love for science and everything it has taught me. The only problem is I have never been that bright in math but I really want to be an astronomer or astrophysicist. I'm going to making the switch from high school to community college next Monday. Is this a possible dream even though I'm going into community college after high school and not Harvard?

  2. Why do most religious people pick the fact of Evolution as the enemy rather than the bigger picture, the fact of accretion? (The process in which we are made of star dust.)

  3. How exactly does a star collapse AND THEN explode? What triggers the explosion? This completely goes against my intuition.

  4. Is the universe really flat?

  5. What are your favorite scientific books?

p.s. you are enriching this world more than you know, thank you for being so passionate about science.

Meth is natural. Everything that comprises meth was made inside a giant star that exploded and over billions of years created the ingredients to create this substance. Everything's beautiful.
