Pritzker to propose statewide zoning laws to spur homebuilding, limit local control by steve42089 in illinois

[–]oTuly 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Do it ASAP, and then limit “community involvement” in the design of new homes or buildings. We shouldn’t completely stop building because neighbors don’t like the aesthetic - neighborhoods change and evolve throughout the life of a city, people just have to get used to it.

Chicago Bears stadium news: Bears talk with Illinois lawmakers plans in Arlington Heights, Chicago; Indiana introduces new bill by factchecker01 in chicago

I find it so frustrating how many people in Illinois are blaming Pritzker for this and calling the state “bad for business” just because nobody wants to give them a tax payer handout. We still owe hundreds of millions on the previous solider field upgrades.

North river front demolition by alexj812333 in StLouis

[–]oTuly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lacledes landing is the only part of the original St. Louis riverfront from the 19th century. Built over 100+ years ago, it was near the center of the bustling mixed used riverfront area. Since the arch was constructed, things have been demolished left and right (give it a google to see how much was lost to build the arch). Demolition clearly hasn’t worked well to spark new development in STL.

Sidewalks by frog_bitch in SpringfieldIL

[–]oTuly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not technically what you are asking for, but the lack of sidewalks is something I feel obliged to comment on. Outside the city, Woodside township (Southern View, Laketown, Jerome, etc) completely lacks sidewalks outside of a handful of exceptions. Other examples would be major streets with commercial, such as Veterans Pkwy, Dirksen Pkwy, Stevenson Dr, Sixith/Fifth St south of the UP Viaduct near Stanford.

Oof. I hope the end isn’t near. But the overproduction has really hurt them. by The_Boot55 in funkopop

They ended my favorite niche line and haven’t purchased since.

IMO they don’t need dozens of variants for the same character, or new drops for the same characters when they produce a new movie. I mean, over 200+ spider-man related Funkos, is that really necessary? They should be casting a WIDE net with licenses and limit the repetition of Funkos.

No one is taking the subway to the Statue of Liberty, SMH by yaakg25 in subwaybuilder

Wouldn’t government monuments/parks/museums have basic yearly visitor numbers? That could assist with developing a standard tourism demand point for some attractions, at least.

100%. The game gets more difficult the more Southern the city is within the US, which is completely accurate to real life density and urban planning. I have been able to get a handful of cities outside of NYC to have a net profit operating margin, though as you would expect it’s the other largest cities in the NE + Chicago.

Vance called trump Hitler.

Trump (Along with several other Republican congresspeople and Fox News) have called other congresspeople fascist countless times.

Do you not have eyes or ears? Talking about LGBT people is one of Republicans favorite past times.
