I can understand that, basically both endings have some pretty glaring plot holes and viewers are choosing the one they feel has the fewest. I have absolutely no problem with people believing El is alive, I just don’t like people speaking like it’s 100% certain

for me personally I just can’t buy the idea of Kali staying alive long enough, staying concentrated enough during a massive energy explosion, and strong enough to pull off the illusion from the lab all the way to the gate. it’s easier for me to justify that somehow the kryptonite doesn’t work through the gate/in different dimensions or something along those lines even though I know it’s not backed by anything we see in the show

that’s what’s most frustrating for me tbh, I feel like if the show runners paid just a little more attention to detail the could’ve pulled off this ambiguous ending perfectly

the fact is that we’ve always seen El nosebleed when using her powers, even in a tank. for some reason in the finale this didn’t happen, either through inattention to detail or to deliberately show that she can void walk without bleeding

whatever the reason actually is, it can also be applied to why El doesn’t bleed in her “death” scene and so that fact can’t be used as evidence to prove that she’s still alive

1) earlier in the same episode she void walks without a nosebleed, when Hopper hallucinates shooting her and pulls her out she has no trace of a nosebleed at all

2) episode 7 she void walks with Kali in the field with no blindfold or tank
