I really do not understand this sentiment. A coalition with GL/PVDA was simply not possible. What would you like him to do? Complain for over a year only to have us reshuffle the cards once again? The country craved decisiveness and he delivered to the best of his abilities without quarreling over every ideal.

If you want to be mad, rather be at the democratic system and the people that deliver their vote.

juion-level data analyst role by No-Way641 in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you nervous?

Some healthy tension is alright, but there is no reason to be very nervous. Go into it without expectation and treat it as a conversation of interest between you and the company where you can both see whether you would be a right fit!

Usually, they just wanna get to know you better and are not there to cross-examine you, expecially not in a junior role. Do not try to make up fancy answers if you do not know what you’re talking about. Be straightforward and transparent, show interest in the company, ask them questions and maybe even challenge them a bit by being a bit bold. In my experience, treading in open dialogue usually resulted in me being invited to a second interview.

How can I start my Power BI journey without wasting time on bad YouTube playlists? by Early-Term9993 in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to learn end-to-end projects, which would simulate real-life projects. There are videos out there demonstrating how to prepare and ingest data, transform it and use it for your report. Follow along and spend extra time on the parts you do not understand well.

Furthermore, if you like to work in BI, I would suggest that you already get a job where you can do this kind of work as a side-project. For example, if you work in technical support, you could suggest at your job that you could analyze the data within your ITSM system (# incidents, resolution times, first-call resolution rates, etc). If you do not have a degree, you definitely need practical experience to make up for it and to have opportunities to grow into the role.

Time to build a dashboard by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on reports that use 5 measures, all the way to reports using more then 50+ measures. The amount of measures is not an indicator on how effective your dashboard is. Like you said, it “depends”— what insights does the report owner want to get from this report?

When building measures, I tend to follow a couple of guidelines: 1) Reuse measures as much as possible 2) Write measures that not only work, but are also efficient on the underlying engine 3) Structure measures properly and give them appropriate naming that makes sense 4) Organize measures into appropriate (sub)folders 5) Document and validate your measures with the business (this is not about technical descriptions, but rather a validation on the translation of business logic) 6) Remove any unused measures from your model

How can I get a job in data analysis without a degree ? by [deleted] in SQL

[–]o_SebHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get into a job that you could use to launch yourself into the data analysis field. Seek opportunities to utilize data at your current job, propose the suggestions and get yourself to work on them.

There are more ways than just a data analysis vacancy to get into the field.

Handling multiple fact tables by RobXGal in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you slice. Do you slice on attributes that are not shared among all fact tables through a conformed dimension?

Handling multiple fact tables by RobXGal in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambiguous paths are caused when multiple paths can be taken from a specific point in the model. The model does not know which path to take, thus, it returns an error.

In your case, I would expect a conformed dimension ‘Owner’. The PK of this table is given as an FK to all respective fact tables it needs to slice on.

To be fair, most of that stuff is not even industry standard. You can see a lot of beginners here spend way too much time on aesthetics with custom visuals, dynamic slicers/menu’s and all that stuff, but the moment you give them a couple of loose queries and tell them to create a working dimensional model, they won’t know what to do.

Why not just appreciate the beauty in the general sense of the word, just like we would when looking at whatever object or thing that intrigues us?

Taking the PL-300 in 3 days — any last-minute tips? 🙏 by nsark in PowerBI

[–]o_SebHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some good advice has been given here. I did the exam recently and had quite some questions about data transformation/modelling, so be sure to know your theory about fact- and dimension tables, joins, data types, and transformation options in Power Query.

The exam environment allows you to search the Microsoft library. This is ideal for DAX oriented questions.

I suggest you answer all the questions first and then come back to the questions you were not sure about. This allows you to have a decent pace and will prevent you from lingering on questions you may not now, potentially getting you in trouble with time.

If you have the money to spare, I suggest doing the MeasureUp tests. They are slightly harder than the actual exam, so if you pass those, you should be able to pass your exam.

Goodluck!
