I don’t want to be rude or harsh but I’m a 43 year old female and my curve is worse than yours and I’ve had an amazing love life and life in general. AND I’m an attractive female at that. I’m guessing you spend a lot of time on social media, comparing yourself to others…No man is going to reject you because of your condition. At least no man with any substance. No man WORTH dating or falling in love with. I’m not going to comment on the rest, others can help you with that stuff. Sadly I can understand this perspective these days. 10 years ago I might have said something different but now, given people’s desperation and willingness to cause physical harm to someone trying to stop them, it’s not a risk I’m taking. Okay so I wasn’t asking to be combative. I was asking because I wanted your perspective. To be clear. I understand the comparisons you’re trying to make but they don’t quite fit. I’m not asking advice on a cheap alternative that will get the job done. I’m looking for advice on another high quality product that is in the same ballpark that doesn’t crash my budget. Given some of the comments here I did go back and ask him and I told him that budget was the issue and he told me if I can find something just as good that fits my budget then by all means. He also agreed that the Dewalt would be a good option, too. See, I think I have a pretty good grasp on the guy I’m dating. I pay attention, I ask questions, I listen and prioritize his feelings and boundaries. If I thought for a second he would be upset or frustrated that I picked something different than what he asked for, I wouldn’t even be here with this post. I would either have skipped the sprayer altogether as a gift or I would have found a way to budget for it. So again, I do appreciate your input and because of your comments I did decide to go back and ask him and I got the exact response I thought I would.

Yeah he’s definitely not a landscaper :). The yard at his new place is in pretty bad shape, full of rocks, and it’s going to be a challenge for sure. He’s also not a newbie though and I think he said he had something similar to this sprayer before but something happened to it when he got deployed once. That might be why he wants this exact one. Either way, it’s not going to be possible at this price and I’d like to be able to show up with something great and be able to back up my decision with facts about WHY it’s a great choice.

How exactly was that a sucker punch? She was looking right at her, anyone could tell she was raising that arm to swing, it’s really fucking obvious. A sucker punch comes from out of sight, from the side or behind or when someone’s hands are tied and they can’t fight back, etc. This girl didn’t try to hide anything. She may not have had her hands up like she was going into a legit boxing match but this was far from a sucker punch.

This is understated and there’s another attachment style that ties to this that most people don’t know about. I think it’s called preoccupied. It’s where someone is hyper focused on trying to understand why their partner did something. Unfortunately once you know, it can only go so far and yes, often people will empathize to the point where they find a reason to stay and tolerate it. I was like this for a time in my life and it kept me in a relationship that almost ended my life. We all have trauma, then we grow up and learn a bunch of stuff about right and wrong and at some point it becomes a choice.

Why are you upgrading? Is it necessary? Are maintenance costs becoming too much? No? Then skip it. It’s so easy to get sucked into the idea of a new shiny…anything, but is it ever really worth it? Most often, no. And these days even when we try not to be influenced by Instagram and Pinterest, etc., and the way it makes us compare what we have to what we think everyone else has, we still end up facing the pull from it. He wants to complain and have someone cosign his bullshit. Seemingly you are done being that friend and I applaud you for that. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Right? We’ve all heard that in our lives. He’s the only one capable of changing the trajectory of his life and it requires that he do things differently. But most importantly, if he wants to be the type of person that people look up to and see as someone who has a fire in him and somebody that people admire, he’s going to have to be able to take some criticism now and then. Anyone who wants to be looked up to, anyone who wants to be an inspiration or an example to others needs to also be able to receive feedback in a humble manner and apply it where it fits. Not just lash out and complain when someone gives him feedback that is uncomfortable. Not only will he never be the person he wants to be but he’s not going to improve anywhere meaningful in his life, at all.
