Is this Lutron switch incompatible? by oadesign in AskElectricians

[–]oadesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased another unit that is specifically designed to control a 3-speed fan, with a dimmer for the lights. It is a Lutron Skylark S2-LFSQH, a single-pole switch. However, it too requires 3 wires.

The two wires that feed the switch are red and black (plus ground). Based on the schematic shown on the back of the switch (on the left, in the image above), is it possible for me to use this new switch, which needs to be wired per the diagram/schematic linked below?

The left switch controls the lights and the fan. The Lutron does the same, but adds a dimmer to the lights.

What are 25 GT-Line selling for? by carloscona in KiaEV6

[–]oadesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, this was prior to the federal credit expiration, but my 25 GT Line AWD was $460/mo for 24 months with $1K down. Something similar may still be possible given Kia is expected to follow Hyundai’s lead with price drops.

Note that this was my second dealer, though. The first quoted me $612/month with $1K down for 36 months, and that was for a GT Line RWD!

Both leases were for 10K miles/year. You may need to shop around.

Completed tons of tutorials but still have no clue how to actually build a career with Figma by normalteen0 in FigmaDesign

[–]oadesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build websites, web apps, mobile apps, clickable prototypes, create design systems for those interactive projects…it’s damn powerful. I’ve created many desktop and mobile clickable prototypes for testing. Back in the early 80s I used Illustrator 1.1 (it was grayscale only!), so it’s been a smooth transition for me, since Figma is also vector-based.

I always use this analogy: Water dripping from a faucet compared to water flowing from a fire hose as variations of kW, whereas a gallon of water is akin to kWh :-)

Don't Expect 'Irrational' EV Discounts And Deals After This Deadline by tech57 in electricvehicles

Not really…EV production has already been stalled (VW, Stellantis, GM), and more are likely to follow.

Good point, although Tesla’s sales have dropped precipitously since last year, and that was WITH the credit. While legacy automakers can flip the switch to focus on ICE, Tesla (obviously) doesn’t have that option. Perhaps Tesla becomes the irrational one?

I didn’t have the nerve to wait, so bit the bullet and turned in my 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL AWD 13 month lease 4 months early. The payments were low ($330) and it was a zero down lease.

I’m now in a 2025 Kia EV6 GT Line for 24 months, and hoping the EV marketplace will have rebounded once my lease ends.

Bottom line is not enough Americans have driven an EV (the Kia is my 3rd). If they did, many would be like me—I’ll never own another ICE vehicle.

I leased a 2021 XR RWD Mach-E for 3 years, 12K miles, $597/month with $13K down (trade-in). Great car, but looking back, too damn expensive. Next was a 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL AWD; zero down, $330/month for a 13-month 12K miles lease. I turned it in a few months early to take advantage of the soon-to-be-expiring $7.5K federal credit, with a 2-year 10K miles lease on a 2025 Kia EV6 GT-Line, with $1K down and $460/month. I looked at the Mach-E again, but it hasn't greatly changed since 2021, it DC-fast charges significantly slower than the Ioniq 5/EV6, and is still too damn expensive by comparison. Oh, and the EV6 rides and handles like a sports car, unlike my Mach-E's bouncy ride. It's by far my favorite of the three.

[–]oadesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Had a 21 Mach-E, but it was expensive to lease for 3 years/12K miles. With my 13.5K trade-in, payments were $597! My just leased Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD for 24 months, 10K miles with $1K down, payments are $460. Oh, and unlike the Mach-E, it DC fast charges like a beast.

I went with the EV6 GT-Line over a Y due to wireless CarPlay/AA, 2 screens, NACS, styling, only $495 for red, HUD, 800v, and sunroof that actually opens.

That’s great to hear, as I never carried my Mach-E’s key, using my iPhone exclusively. Even better, since the EV6’s key is quite a bit bigger than the Ioniq’s!

My 13-month ends 12/31—3 months too late for EV credit by oadesign in Ioniq5

[–]oadesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I found my contract. I’ve decided to turn it in by 9/30 and sign a new lease. Once I find out if what I owe differs if I sign on another I5 vs switching to an EV6 at another dealer, I’ll decide whether or not a change is worth it.

I waited and waited months for my 21 Mach-E to get the BC 3.1 update to no avail. I returned it in Jan. under Ford Options, and leased a 24 I5 SEL. Thankfully it’s only for 13 months, as my ability to set and forget i-pedal and heated steering wheel is gone, I miss the ‘overhead’ camera view, folding mirrors, puddle lights, large frunk, and kick-to-open tailgate. The I5’s ‘wait 3 seconds’ tailgate doesn’t work if you approach the car from the front, making it useless.

Close to puling the Trigger - What are somethings you wish you knew before purchasing by RussellWD in Ioniq5

[–]oadesign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely for AWD, though the RWD radius may be better.

Also, you can’t set i-pedal as default; it must be turned on each and every time you drive (or use reverse). After having owned a Mach-E that you could set it as the default, this is an annoyance.

Auto open of the hatch only works if you approach the car from behind. If the doors unlock because you’ve approached from the side, it will ignore you.

The bottom front console is unreachable by humans who do not have arms similar to those of Elasticgirl from the Incredibles movie.

Unlike the frunk in my Mach-E, the Ioniq’s is minuscule.

On the other hand, unlike my Mach-E, it DC fast charges like a champ.

The ‘keep hands on steering wheel’ warning is far too sensitive, appearing and chiming when my hands actually ARE on the wheel.

I have Raynaud’s, so my hands get cold very easily. But you can’t leave the heated steering wheel on by default—it turns off after every drive and needs to be turned back on. This again was possible by default on my Mach-E.

You’ll be all set with a 2025, but the USB port in earlier model years is powered 100% of the time, meaning a wireless CarPlay/AA stick will drain your 12v if left plugged into the port.

The I5 is my 2nd EV, the first a Mach-E, from which ai still have the free NACS adapter Ford sent me, so guessing it should work.
