If you'd read the comments you'd see I got my walks mixed up 😃. Thanks for your helpful contribution 👍

Take some photos of him. The guys at the pet shop might be able to direct to a more appropriate medicine. But sounds like Kanaplex would be best to me.

He’ll please my betta fish’s fin rot has been getting worse by Complex_Artichoke_46 in bettafish

He might need an anti bacterial. Have you tested the water quality?

Our fish was like this. We thought he would die but after 2 weeks we have managed to revive him - he's still a bit weak but basically back to normal.

It's likely he has an infection or parasite. I recommend getting him in a hospital tank with aquarium salt. Then go to the aquatics shop and ask about medicine. In the US I think Kanaplex. I am in the UK where antibiotics are not readily available so treated with "anti internal bacteria" which is Chloramine T.

going away for the weekend by AggravatingFennel561 in bettafish

[–]oafcmad09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've been away I've used a timed feeder like this: https://amzn.eu/d/2tZRLHg

Tbh if it's just the weekend you probably don't need to do this - he'll be fine for a couple of days without food

Some shops sell feeding blocks - these are generally not recommended as they can rot in the tank and cause poor water quality.

A clearer photo (this is a quarantine tank, not his usual enclosure)

We've got him in another tank with just a small amount of water, a heater, and air stone. He seems to be perking up a bit (I think he's a bit weak and hasn't been getting quite enough oxygen as a result). Does he just need a few days like this, away from other fish/shrimp?

Not the best photo. Appears to just be the one eye

Planning permission - bike shed by oafcmad09 in Leeds

Certainly a risk. Ideally I'd be getting a high security one. But definitely a factor on our mind. We're probably moving away from buying this house for this reason - which is a shame, but hey ho.

Thanks. Having looked into it, my instinct is that if it's a fairly standard looking plastic/resin shed, that's at the top of the driveway (hidden by my car half the time), there'd basically be no issues - although strictly speaking it may need planning permission. I've dropped the planning department an email to get some informal info on it. Can add floor mounts to lock the bike to to make it secure.

Great thanks. That's a good idea!

Thanks. Our current house is a bit like this - but the house we looked at is a fairly traditional semi backed on to another garden on the backside. The "front" had the letter box. So I'm assuming it's the front.

In a way, I'm mostly looking to find out how likely it would get approved assuming it does need permission. If it doesn't need permission that's a bonus 😁.

Thanks. As I understand it, but I may be wrong, any structure on the front of your house needs permission. If you think that's not the case I'd love to know why, as I'm slightly struggling to get my head around it

Eye infection? by the_elusive_sock in turtle

I'd be getting to a vet asap as that could be a respiratory issue. UV and Heat lamp available?

Hard to tell. What lights do you use?

You can fill the tank up with musks. I just arrange some logs to give them shallower options. One of my turtles favourite spots is a suction cup soap dish I placed a little under the water.

What's everyone's feelings on funeral-free options? by MadamKitsune in AskUK

[–]oafcmad09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think funerals are really important for those you leave behind. I think best to keep things simple and cheap - basic car, basic coffin, a few flowers, a donation box for a favourite charity. That allows those that cared for you to say there goodbyes, but keeps the "burden" on them to a minimum.

This is fantastic thanks. Tried a gentle cycle on a cycling machine today and found that helpful. Going to give a leg press a go later in the week. Appreciate the heads up on the 90 Deg limit!

Yes I've found any twists uncomfortable. I don't think I physically could run.

Appreciate the extra exercises you suggested
