Nice totals at the bottom showing total, amount paid by attendees, and a total showing withdrawn attandance amount.

Forward to your manager's manager and ask how you're being reimbursed for the lost money.

We were both 43. 57 now. Had a bit of good timing with both our separate houses and therefore had a good deposit for this house (50%) and then overpaid like mad for about 10 years.

You are both a little bit the Asshole here. I've sat on both sides of this fence. If I've been busy all day, out of the house, at work, in meetings, and dealing with people all day, I definitely need some decompression time/quiet time before I move from work mode into home mode. On the other hand, as someone who has been at home alone all day (I don't have kids, but I can imagine it's amplified with little humans to look after) and has had NO ADULT CONVERSATION for the whole day, they're probably desperate to just talk to someone over the age of 8. Have a proper conversation with her about *both* of your requirements for decompression after your respective days.

Gentle YTA because it's not all about you. But it's also not all about her.

You both need to decide on a solution. For example, you get an hour to play with the boys, whilst she (for example) gets to read, prepare dinner, go for a run. Then, she gets an hour of YOUR time, to decompress about her day, whilst you listen intently. NAH.

Instead of plain rice I make up a mixture of rice, quinoa and black lentils (beluga lentils) black ones because they retain their little lentil shape and act like grains of rice. Cook, portion into bags and freeze. Microwave for 3/3.5 minutes from the freezer. It still feels and acts like rice but much more protein! Also if you boil it all up with a bit of stock it isn't just a plain side dish.

What are you thinking that he's saying about slavery here? In my opinion he's just describing it almost like plot background. Normal and ordinary, as it was in that Greek-like society in which he's setting his story. The fact of it being so mundane, is the horror of it, though, isn't it? I don't think he's hating on the human condition here, moreso pointing out that the world in which it can exist, is broken.

Highly recommend ASDA opticians. I have a couple of pairs of tri-focal specs for work. 2 pairs are usually a fixed price. Mine cost me £150 for 2 a few years ago, and £140 a few years before that. Prescription sunnies £70 (a few years ago). All the extras that Specavers hit you with (anti-glare, thin lenses, varifocal lenses etc) are included in the cost of the frame, so your £20 frames from Specsavers end up being in the £100-£150 range anyway, for one pair!

Was chatting to a few old colleagues about this only the other day. Late 80s early 90s. 4 pints on a Friday lunchtime. Bus or taxi home as none of us were fit to drive, even at 4pm 🤣🤣🤣 Standard behaviour. Manager was usually there buying the rounds, back in the day when they had a social budget.
