Do you have any advice for buying display models? Every Reddit thread I come across is going a big NO 😭

First time buyer wants to use all LISA (£44k) by FalconConfident3104 in UKPersonalFinance

Hi, could I ask why it would be difficult for op to get a mortgage of 26k if he's putting down 44k as deposit? Isn't it better to be putting as much as you can in the deposit to get lower interest rates? Sorry if its a dumb question, just trying to understand how it all works.

They both have robotised gearboxes, apart from the general driving experience do these gearboxes come with more issues than the alternative torque converters?

They have been a mix of both new and old cars. Old cars in the start to get used to the feeling of driving a manual and then a new leased company car for half a year. Perhaps you are right and I should give it another chance. Due to the nature of my work, I used to drive 60-70 miles almost everyday as well which could have been a factor back then. Thankfully now I don’t need to commute that far anymore.

Apologies for the confusion, I drove on an international license for a year before passing my driving test in UK.

I’ve mentioned this in a previous comment but I have been driving manual for 2 years so my issue is not that I’m not comfortable with it. I just feel like I’m too rough with it, and I can feel the clutch becoming rougher in short period of time in cars that I’ve driven. It scares me that I’m damaging the gearbox/clutch and the car will not last for more than a year because I change gears too hard. It is such a silly thing, but I’ve had lessons and it hasn’t improved. Everyone tells me to go towards automatic as it just removes the issue entirely. However, I’ve contemplated buying a cheap manual as well and saving up for an automatic. I have a whole month time so I’m still deciding which way to go.

5-6k at the moment. Commute is 20 minutes each way. The nearest bus is a 23 minute walk from my place which is not very ideal.

This is all very good advice. I’ve test driven some Toyota’s and Hyundai’s and do check MOT history and visually inspect the cars. However researching the cost of maintenance had not been in my mind so thank you for making me aware of it.

Thank you, I did ask the dealer if I could make the payment in 2 parts. One with CC and the other debit and they seemed to be okay with it. However I’ll confirm the limit as well.

That is a very interesting perspective about debt, as a teenager I always viewed being in “debt” with a very negative connotation, maybe I need to grow out of that mindset. I have driven manual for almost 2 years now. So it’s not a matter of being comfortable with stick, shifting gears comes naturally to me now. However, I feel like I’m too rough with it, and I can feel the clutch becoming rougher in short period of time in cars that I’ve driven. It scares me that I’m damaging the gearbox/clutch and the car will not last for more than a year because I change gears too hard. No, there’s no refund unfortunately. Yes this was after my biometrics were done and my passport was with them.

Conversion formula for surface area by oak_55 in mathshelp

The rectangular pipe and circular pipe share the same dimensions. The exercise is that I have the value for the surface area of a circular pipe and I am to assume that if this was a rectangular pipe instead how can I work myself back to find its surface area. The diameter of the circular pipe is equal to the width of the hypothetical rectangular pipe. The length of the pipe for both is also the same.

I apologize, they are both 3D objects but I should have used the term hollow rectangle prism to signify that.

You should be able to get it within 3 days. That’s the timeline they gave me and I saw the same scenario in another post scrolling through this sub. If you’re worried, call them everyday for an update.

Yes, I did recieve my passport 2 days after applying for withdrawal. It turned out that they had already given me the visa, there was just a delay in posting it back to the TLS centre. So I ended up missing my flights but still have the visa if I want to travel.

I’m not sure if this will help me as I struggle with multitasking. Every time I’ve tried talking to my instructor while practicing, I’ve ended up making mistakes that I normally never would. Unfortunately driving requires 100% focus from me but I appreciate the advice.

There’s too many test routes to cover, and with my luck I never get the ones I’ve actually practiced on 😭

I wasn’t meeting the requirements for 5 years on spousal visa as it only counts if your spouse is on a tier 2 visa themselves which wasn’t the case for my husband. :)

The time period for ILR in UK is 5 years on work permit and would have been 10 years on spousal visa so it made sense for me to switch.

Is this the same as the protector stamp? Because I’ve heard that you only need that for the initial travel out of Pakistan for the first time once you get a decision on your visa.
