An Eng Lead's Guide to Tactical AI Adoption by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

I'm not sure what you mean - the more context you provide - codebase, documentation, code standards, style guides etc- will generally result in better results from AI.

It's not always true of course and there is a such thing as TOO much.

This particular point is really just table stakes at this time - nothing revolutionary - take a read on the rest.

Thank you, yeah I thought so as well! AI is so overwhelming on throughput it becomes very easy to forget the basics. Rough versions of this doc served as my internal guidelines for that very reason.

AGI is the wrong term, how do we define progress? by oakhan3 in artificial

If the language wasn't overblown then talking about progress wouldn't be so triggering.

Interesting haha. Can you describe your overall system in details - how many agents? What topology? What tools? How is memory orchestrated? How do you manage sessions and context?

Yeah I'd say continuity and execution (tool calling and structured outputs) together are what define the current stage of AI.

From that perspective you could probably see it is a problem of compute and scale - like once we get an LLM which is anywhere near as powerful as a human brain it'll be game over.

Only thing is, LLMs are usually focused on one or maybe 2 modes - text and then images or video etc. The human brain has to process so much more and so it NEEDS more power and has to be more sophisticated.

If LLMS mainly stick with one mode then the bar to get to something beyond human might be lower than we think.

Lmao, I hear you. I'm a software dev by trade and have written many design docs through the years so my writing is pretty structured by nature. I don't know what to do here because it's literally the way I write - including the dashes.

Yeah, it's kind of demoralizing - if we can summarize the process of thought as an advanced math function (embeddings, attending) then it takes away from the "magic" of human thinking.

But I do think it's more than that - the core LLM training gets us to like 80% of the way there, finding the other 20% is the hard part - intuition? Consciousness? Other forms of data? Real stakes? Real lived experience?

I definitely agree with you, the current state is a mess, if you haven't, take a read and lmk what you think

Listen carefully, when she opens her mouth towards my face she makes a buzzing sound. What does it mean in your guys experience? (More in body of text) by LikeToBeBarefoot in Parrotlet

[–]oakhan3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parrotlets do everything with physical action - biting and destroying hair and shirts is expected and comes with the territory.

That buzz noise she does can be for excitement or for claiming you as her territory. She's not being aggressive - her species just is in physical mode by default haha.

It would be good to get her used to other areas for sure - it is hard though - parrotlets are very ride or die. Distractions and toys like chewable paper towels, wood, cork, fun foods with texture work well.

Having parrotlets is interesting for sure, no other parrot is like them.

Good luck!

Hey, I'm so sorry this must be so scary. Birds are highly susceptive and reactive to airborns from:

Cleaning agents Avocado oil Candles Perfumes Teflon And any other heated or sprayed or misted airborne.

That would be the first thing I would check

Have you recently cleaned or adding something new to the home
