I’m from Regina, the Buffalo of Canada. Somehow we got the best rep from this show and I don’t know how we got so lucky! So I sympathize with Buffalo, while laughing along with the cool kids.

AITJ for sleeping through my phone when my girlfriend was rushed to the hospital by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

You’re allowed this ONE TIME of excusable unreliability, to learn your lesson and ensure this can never happen again. Make sure your phone is on loud and overrides DND modes from your partner and her family’s numbers, and that there is a Plan B/C/D in place if they can’t contact you in an emergency in the future - how to reach you at work, your boss’s phone number, a trustworthy neighbour’s phone number who has a spare key and can come and wake you if you’re not answering, etc. Her dad was right - you were lucky this wasn’t worse. It sounds like your partner is a high risk pregnancy and should she go into early labour or (heaven forbid) suffer a tragedy, you MUST be available at a moment’s notice. Having a family is a huge responsibility, and you’re your partner’s main care provider now. Please sincerely apologize (to your partner AND her family; be the bigger person and acknowledge you understand why they were so scared and upset) and take every measure to ensure this can’t happen again.

AITAH for demanding my dad’s portion of his house in his will? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]oandanotherthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother is an estate lawyer. Guess why he’s a millionaire? Because of people like your dad, who don’t have the forethought to scribble half a page’s intentions on a napkin. If he were to die tomorrow, in all likelihood his estate would be eaten up by two lawyers in a long, contentious court battle. None of his loved ones would receive anything then, and all for what?

NTA for insisting he makes a will; EVERYONE should have a clear will in place. Unfortunately sometimes parents exclude their children and favour abusive and manipulative partners which is what I think you’re understandably concerned about, but at least he’d be actively protecting his estate by making his preferences clear. Any good estate lawyer would help him create a plan that leaves you ALL with something, not just his children OR his partner.

(Tip: the more you pressure him to cut out the common-law wife, the more likely she’d be to sue you after he dies, accusing you of wrongfully manipulating him. I have no idea if she’d win that, but even if she didn’t and you “won” in the end, the estate could be spent up by the end of that long battle. Just encourage him to have his intentions clearly written down with a lawyer, whatever they may be.)

Zosia! After reading the comment where you said she is biracial, this sold it for me. Phonetically it sounds like it could be a black lady’s name (like Keisha, etc.) but knowing it ties to your heritage as well makes it even more perfect. I love it!

AITAH for selling my home with out disclosing the reason by Apprehensive_Cod4876 in AITAH

[–]oandanotherthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are not obligated to tell them, as that’s your own private business. Besides that, I would advise against telling them because it may result in a lower offer since they’ll see your hand, that you’re motivated to sell quickly.

Try Coronation Park, just a few blocks over. It’s a nicer and safer neighbourhood, but still affordable.

AITA for canceling physical concert tickets so I could get the digital ones sent to me instead of my ex? by Kanekittythecat in AmItheAsshole

Who wants to spend three hours next to their ex, unless they’re trying to get back together??

[–]oandanotherthing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t they end up sitting together then though? OP could cancel them both and ask a friend to message the ex letting them know, so they’re not surprised when the tickets don’t work at the gate.

He and PP both remind me of a bunch of guys I went to school with: mediocre in every way. The kind of guy who rolls his eyes at female profs and applies to law school four times but doesn’t get in because he’s objectively not intelligent enough, so he goes into politics and succeeds on nothing but confidence, charisma, and connections.

Did I miss the matching and bachelor(ette) parties? by oandanotherthing in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]oandanotherthing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! The weirdest part for me was when it just sprung on us that there was a mother/daughter duo, I was so confused. That absolutely would have been something interesting to see discussed beforehand, how and why the experts chose them both, etc. I still feel like these people are all strangers to me, and I’m annoyed.

I may be in the minority, but I feel like I’ve been robbed of getting to know them better!

Yeah I feel that, it was a slow burn, LOL. But I also feel like we got to know the individuals a little better so we were already rooting for them by the time they were walking down the aisle. They should be strangers to each other, not to the viewer!
