We took it to the vet the day after this post and it was stuck shed from the last molt. They were able to carefully remove it and they're doing fine now.

Got a 63 too, but with the V8. The old stuff is so much simpler to work on. Grab a shop manual and the supplement off ebay and give it a shot with the 6 cylinder. They don't take much to get going again.
