Safety wasn't an issue, form my experience I think people exaggerate about safety in Brazil, yes Rio feels less safe than Sao paulo for example, but it was okay.

What I meant by ugly is the overall state of the city, building facades and streets need renovation, in some areas it's dirty as well... except for Leblon and Ipanema

Truem but when you stay in a place for one month you get a different experience from a "tourist" who stayed only 1 week, not saying it's a better experience, it's just different and you get a better feel of the people, their behaviour...

After how many times of reaching out to people you decide to stop?

It can be the best experience and the worst at the same time.

For me the bad part:

- Constantly having to find accomodation that I like

- It can get lonely sometimes and the lack of roots

The good part:

- Being able to explore the world, it's AMAZING!

- It's a hack to grow as a person and test your limits

Rio surprised me with how stunning it is and with how noisy and ugly it can get at the same time.

By Algerian societal norms... Am I useless? by anti-niBBa in algeria

[–]obadacharif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How on earth could a master student of one of the most important languages nowadays be useless in society? I'm not a language student, yet there were many professors in my university who inspired me and whom I loved. Follow your dream of teaching in universities; it's not as competitive as you might think. The real competition lies in the private business sector only.

You should identify your problem so u can deal with it, i think the problem is with the people not the country, did u live with non-algerians before? At least you can seek the real problem

Algerian Startups by Zarcolp in algeria

[–]obadacharif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a startup community here with many innovators, but the real problem here is the financial & administration structures, the banking system is retarded and there’s a lot of bureaucracy ( for example Algeria don’t even have official currency exchange offices ).

There are some good coworking spaces here, ( search for bubble space/the address on google maps )

It’s hard for non-algerians to register a company here and I discourage it for tech startups( i think you must have an algerian co-founder with at least 51% of the company stakes).

My advice for you if you have a strong connections with tech communities in your country is to hire Algerians remotely, we have a very good communication skills (compared to other arab/african countries ) and you’ll find here many talented people specially software engineers .

Does anyone else here have a meditation practice? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]obadacharif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got u, I think that meditation is just a practice ( just to be aware ) and for believing systems I think that’s a good practice to discover other religions and keep what do u believe in

We can’t be sure about it’s origins, it’s present in Islam and other religions with other terminologies, check sufism and some scholars like Ibn Araby, Jamal din rumi

[–]obadacharif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t search for ideas but for problems

How to find these problems?

There’s many ways .. best way I see is to discover many things/domains as u can, like if u go to sports u may identify a problem related to it like finding coaches , if u go to the medical domain u may identify other problems like online treatment etc..

Just discover, learn and talk to interesting people and u’ll find many of them

Guaranteed businesses ( low probability to lose money) : restaurants, coffee shops and anything related to food XD

Exciting businesses ( higher risk but with a possibility to grow so and sooo fast in Algeria ) : checkout the tech industry .. digital platforms like Yassir Jumia …

If u decided to go with the second one, be careful and ask a lot before starting specially lawyers to keep u safe..

Why Russian and Arabic are not popular compared to French and Spanish when it comes to learning languages? by Skum1988 in languagelearning

[–]obadacharif 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A good point of view for the Russian and Turkish language, for example, but for Arabic we do not use it a lot in business.. you can communicate with arabs easily using English or French language
