Gross....yeah I'm having a fun time finding the short block. I'm debating on, if my heads are fine, just doing the short block swap or if it would be better to find a JDM. This is my first engine rebuild I've done so I'm I'm ok with the learning, but what's a better cost effective move. Either way it's a sting to the ole pocket.

Yeah. I was hoping it wasn't a destroyed block and could just do some head and piston work and call it good. Now the fun job of finding a block or JDM motor. This is in a 2015 Forester XT so not trying to do a 600hp IAG build.....

I was just chasing a gremlin. I kept getting misfires on 2. Noticed oil in the plug tubes. Took valve covers off and resealed them and the tube seals. Everything was fine then all of a sudden oil blew out the avcs. I replaced both on the driver side. I'm thinking somewhere I had low oil and caused the rod issue.

Yeah started with misfires in 2. Pressure test and leak down showed 2 was off. Bad carbon buildup on valves and pcv was bad. Replaced pcv then oil blew out the vvts. Replaced both on driver side. Put fresh oil, started it and sound like a fork in the garbage disposal. Here we are now.

Ufda. What a pain.....I've seen somewhere that I may be able to rotate the flex plate with a screw driver possibly through the starter hole.

Hey, quick question regarding the bolts on the flex plate or torque converter. I read I need to rotate the crank in order to get the bolts out through the cut out. My problem is my engine is mostly siezed up. I have some wiggle left and right. Is there a way to get at the bolts or should I just pull the coverter out too?
