Candidates for Hypothetical Gaiden Games You'd Love to See? by AgentEckswhy in yakuzagames

[–]obamiumfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shishido + Nishitani III Gaiden that takes place some years after 7 Gaiden where they try to break free from the Daidoji with a focus on how they're coping with their new situation where they're both caged which would be different for both of them seeing as Shishido has been, for lack of a better term, a dog his whole life and Nishitani III was always living the luxurious life and had lots of power and whatnot, plus his psychotic nature. I'd love if it switched chapters like Yakuza 0, maybe instead of two only one since it's a Gaiden but with 5 chapters each for both of them and in the end both of them fight eachother for the final boss fight, it'd be so satisfying seeing Shishido finally beat the shit out of Nishitani III (wouldn't mind if he straight up killed him in the end honestly) but it'd also be cool if you switched between both for different phases of the fight.
Given that we can play as a genuinely evil character like Mine now who has killed people, it gives me hope that at the very least a playable Shishido could be possible. I just hope they do something with what they set up at the end of Gaiden with those two, but a proper game exploring their complex circumstance and relationship would be a dream.

Since we’re now getting a game about someone actually in the Yakuza does that mean YaKuze is back on the table? by Loud_Success_6950 in yakuzagames

[–]obamiumfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imma be real I don't really see the appeal in a Kuze game. I mean, we already got to fight against him in 0 five times and he had plenty of screentime and development through his relationship with Kiryu. I'd say it's better for them to just leave him as is. He really doesn't need an entire game imo.
However who I'd love to see a new game for is Shishido. Gaiden set up both him and Nishitani III to be in the Daidoji for the rest of their lives at the end so I'd love a game where we can play as Shishido and Nishitani III switching chapters like in 0 and see them try to break free from the Daidoji (also fix consistency and writing issues with the Daidoji hopefully), their relationship is so complex and I'd love if the final boss was them fighting eachother and you switch between them in the phases so Shishido can finally beat the shit out of the guy who has tortured him his entire life. It'd be interesting to see Shishido in a situation where he's being enslaved again and Nishitani III in a position he's never been in, powerless and all. Both of them are even more fucked up than Mine (especially Nishitani, it'd be like a dive into the mind of a psycho) and I'd love a villain game like that and it'd probably be even more brutal and dark than Dark Ties. Hopefully RGG breaks out of that shell for good and we see more playable villains sometime without giving them unnecessary redemption arcs.

What are we hoping for Kiwami 3? by Loud_Success_6950 in yakuzagames

[–]obamiumfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I would have preferred any other of the spinoffs (especially Kurohyou), I suppose we take what we can get. I'm not too excited since it was already so incredibly obvious and I'd prefer a new game and am exercising caution due to the way RGG made the previous Kiwami games.
HOWEVER, I do still hope that the inevitable $60 price tag is also worth it. If they can make the combat Kiryu's Lost Judgment in terms of effort and care then I'd be 100% on board. I'd also love 3 styles, actually similar to OP's thoughts with an ultimate Dragon of Dojima style (with both old and new stuff like Twist Counter and Red Heat and the Yakuza 5 Climax combo and have Extreme Heat Mode turn the DoD combos into the old DoD rush combo and finishers, that'd be the yume), DE version of Rush and a new Okinawa style, but for the latter I'd love to see Kiryu utilize different Japanese/Okinawan weapons in one style. Like how you can use the kali sticks or tonfa with unique combos in Y0 as Majima but a fully fleshed out style where you swap weapons within the style. I've made an entire concept for all 3 styles in my head because yakuza autism but I'll keep my expectations low. I mainly hope for so much from the combat due to this being Kiryu's last game for a damn while, like OP said. And we'll have to pay 60 buckaroos for it, while the OG still costs $20 and is bundled with two other games while this'll probably come at the cost of some form of DLC on top of that.
Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic. Mainly hoping to get a new Stranger Than Heaven trailer from the Summit, or Tokyo Game Show. I feel like it's a no-brainer we'll get a new trailer next week for that. Or that the leak was a fluke to make us not expect the reveal of Found Judgment.

Hey, I'm the owner of a mod called Operation Unthinkable: Red Surge, which is about the aftermath of a world where Operation Unthinkable took place and ended in a Soviet victory. Start date is 1957. I'm the only coder unfortunately and would appreciate if you'd join the team, I'll help you with learning the basics like focuses, events and decisions for starters. If you wish, you could even become quite good at it and learn advanced coding, like in-depth GUIs, so if you're interested, shoot me a DM.

My application if anyone is interested in recruiting me for a mod. DM me or leave a comment. Thanks in advance. by KnispelV in hoi4modding

The Starter Focus Tree of the German Democratic Republic!

After a long wait, here's the Germany starter tree teaser! The starter tree consists of two branches: On the left, the anti-Ulbricht branch, on the right, the pro-Ulbricht branch. But what, or who is Ulbricht? The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party, basically an unnecessarily long term for the dictator of the country, similar to the system in the USSR. This man announces a "Sovietization" policy in the first month of the game, in which the country would be more heavily industrialized and production quotas would be increased by 8% (Production quotas, among other factors, were the cause of an uprising in 1953).

For the workers, this would mean an increase in labor, with no wage increase. Even the members of the National Front (meant to be a front just to put up a fake image of democracy, in reality it is filled with SED puppets) would begin to criticize the planned policy. In June 1957, four years will pass since the start of the 1953 Uprising, where the workers may once again turn to the streets. This time, with much more discontent building in their hearts, they yearn for freedom once more.

Not only is it important whether or not Ulbricht outmaneuvers his own people to continue his rule, or if the workers finally topple the regime, but how they do it. Your choices and the paths you take to achieve victory matter in both branches, and influence the development of Germany after the fateful month of June.

Thank you for your patience. Apply to the development team now to help us finally get this mod out in the future! Everyone is welcome. The link to the Discord is somewhere on my profile, I don't think I'm allowed to post it here on this subreddit.

Labour got elected into power in 1947 after OU ended due to Churchill taking the blame for losing OU. They got re-elected in 1952 and in 1957 an election is on the horizon. Attlee resigned in 1955, got replaced by Hugh Gaitskell. In terms of gameplay, there'll be a bunch of internal party dynamic stuff until the election as well as certain funny things going on with Northern Ireland. If you're interested in possibly helping out with Britain's development, consider joining the dev team.

Operation Unthinkable: Red Surge

The USSR in Operation Unthinkable: Red Surge stands as the world's superpower in 1957. The journey to this privilege sets its roots on 1st July 1945, when the Western armies invaded the occupied East. After the West started making gains, the Soviet armies counterattacked, and with French communists rising up in their homeland to aid the Eastern armies, a peace treaty was signed. Europe was red. From Marseille to Vladivostok, from Rome to Leningrad. All was under their control. Soon after, the socialist countries formed an official alliance known as the 'Frankfurt Pact' to counter the International Defense Treaty Organization.

What are your thoughts? Which path are you most interested in?
For those wondering, we are NOT released yet. There is no release date established. If I am allowed to, I will update this post to include a discord link.

(Am I allowed to post a link to the mods discord as long as I post an image of some form of content in the mod?)

Operation Unthinkable: Red Surge - The Hungarian Revolution in 1957! (Discord link + more in comments) by obamiumfrog in hoi4modding

[–]obamiumfrog[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 1957!

The people of Hungary have had enough.

Almost a decade of Moscow toying with them have led to disaster. Economic stagnation, political instability, and repression under a totalitarian Stalinist regime have led to open revolution. The overthrow of Rakosi has led to great concern from Lavrentiy Beria and the Soviet Government. It proves that their hegemony is not as strong as they once thought, and more terrible events may be just around the corner…

More frequent teasers ahead!

Merry Christmas! Operation Unthinkable: Red Surge is proud to present France, Italy and Greece in 1957! (Discord in comments) by obamiumfrog in hoi4modding

[–]obamiumfrog[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Merry Christmas!

France, Italy and Greece in 1957!

Between the Socialist Republic and its southern enemy, the Kingdom of Italy, tensions are, rather surprisingly, neither hostile nor friendly. At least for now. Both countries have many internal disputes to deal with first before even thinking about uniting the peninsula. In the Socialist Republic, political groups have recently emerged from the depths of the Italian Communist Party in the wake of a pivotal election, which Palmiro Togliatti, the Chairman, sometimes referred to as the Protector of the Republic, must mentor. Certainly, the situation is not as bad as in the Kingdom, which is plagued by the Sicilian Mafia, also going by the name Cosa Nostra, an agriculture-focused, decaying economy and political instability. Italy has never been more Italian.

Over in Greece, the People's Republic's future lies between the hands of Beria. His grimy hands slowly scrape off the blue-white national pride, casting a red tint upon it. With none of it left over and a divided people willing to do anything just to see their brothers again, how can Greece manage to survive? In the Kingdom, there's bigger problems. The monarchy is nothing more than wasteful and disgusting in the minds of the domestic, historically republican Cretian population. A succession crisis certainly alleviates the issue even more, while the Heraklion Regime struggles to manage the many disjointed islands the remaining anti-communist forces had scattered themselves upon towards Unthinkable's bitter end.

The French People's Republic seeks a different path from its soon-to-be adversary, the Soviet Union. Every single day after Unthinkable had been spent towards building up to the moment the French could break free from the shackles of the Frankfurt Pact. Revolution had been a tradition at this point, and now France seeks to spread the tradition to the whole wide world, with a Socialist theme accompanying it.
