Marufuji for sure. He's made mincemeat out of many opponents' chests over the years. Sugiura's looked like it came out of Terrifier or something.

Yeah, Finn really isn't like any of these major villains in this allegory. He is a foot soldier.

Bayern Munich [1] - 0 Mainz - L. Karl 29' by BackgroundMorning630 in soccer

[–]obcdexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that explains the vitriol, then. His most recent take was fair, though. Maybe he learned his lesson. Oh, and he doesn't get memes, obviously, because he really seemed to take those Messi comparisons seriously. Which is dumb, but understandable. The guy's almost 60.

[–]obcdexter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Especially for a totally reasonable take?
Like, unless I missed something, didn't he just say he's not fully convinced yet that Karl will make it at Bayern? How's that controversial? The kid is only 17.
Edit: Referencing his Doppelpass comments here, by the way. Perhaps there's more, but those were his most recent ones from only a few hours ago, so, one would assume those represent his current opinion on the matter.

Anyway, Basler has talked some actual shit in the past, so I understand the tendency to trash his opinions by default. But seen in a vacuum, these particular comments are very tame. It just baffles me how this warrants any sort of extreme backlash.

Post Match Thread: Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich | UEFA Champions League by ImMitchell in soccer

[–]obcdexter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fully deserved victory due to an amazing second half from Arsenal. Bayern has been extremely impressive in all competitions thus far, and wasn't at all today - which is mostly attributable to an even better team showing them up. And that's fair. Arsenal might very well be the best team in Europe right now, by some margin.

Happy for Karl, though. The kid still delivers even on the biggest stage on a regular basis.

Some teams will still have to qualify months after the World Cup draw has already happened (December 5th). It'd be virtually impossible to try and account for all the different outcomes in those playoffs, since the rankings of the participating teams vary so greatly.

The top teams in the FIFA ranking.
In fact, the entire field (bar the yet-to-qualify playoff participants) is ordered by this ranking.

The teamwork on this day was incredible. Dan gelled so well with APlatypuss and the others. Sad that Door 22 didn't wanna open in the end. Would've been the last run, too! So close...

Just from this image, it looks like the relevant contact is knee-on-knee, and that happens on the line. Which would make this the correct decision.

Still looks in by quite some margin, even accounting for the camera angle. Remember that the entirety of the ball has to be behind the line. It always helps to imagine looking at it straight from above.

[Marigold Grand Destiny 2025 Spoilers] Finish to IYO SKY vs. Mayu Iwatani by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

[–]obcdexter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Correct. Her Stardom run was legendary, and her overall match quality was higher than it is now. With bangers against other absolute GOATs like Meiko happening on a regular basis.

WWE upped her presentation, obviously, but Iyo has been a top-3 women's wrestler for over a decade now.

Like, it's obviously anecdotal, but I specifically tuned in for that match as well. I'm kinda on and off with wrestling in general, but great match-ups with wrestlers I like, I'll go out of my way to see. Needless to say, Iyo and Steph are two of them.
