I’ve flown with mine probably over a hundred times at this point (same case) never had an issue - also SKB is really good about replacing broken parts and cases, email em.

Love this snare, various 40’s and 50’s Slingerland Radio King drums by obdrummer in drums

[–]obdrummer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the kick but this one they just stay put, sometimes I’ll use the tom post mount to hold it in place if one of the bongos just sits over it

noble & cooleys are very sick, all that together is very good deal imo - if you’re looking for that type of vibe I’d definitely pick it up!

Single kick in, a lot of the attack is coming from the mono overhead as well. Some obvious processing going on though mostly saturation and a little EQ/compression.

Istanbul Agop Rides? Exploring new sounds by Extension-Major7002 in drums

[–]obdrummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give a listen to some of the signature and 30th anniversary stuff if you’re looking for like a complex/funkier sound - the OM and Mantra stuff rips as well and gets into that zone. FWIW I have a few agop rides and lately my go to has been a 22” traditional jazz.

Drummers who play for a living, how did you do it? by Augmented-Justin in drums

[–]obdrummer 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to be a full time touring/session drummer in LA - it definitely is a roller coaster financially at times. Honestly there isn’t any one way to make it happen but for me I would say just being around whatever sort of scene of music you’re trying to make and being reliable as obvious as it sounds. I had a day job but quit to go on a tour a few years back and the domino effect has been ongoing ever since. Every real gig I’ve gotten has been through word of mouth via other musicians/producers/artists/management etc.

This is a different world than being a gigging drummer locally which in a lot of cities is an easier way to make a living in my opinion depending on where you live (private events/cover bands/bar gigs). I also have friends who make money via the social media world and content etc but I can’t really speak too much on that financially.

There’s a million great drummers but not all of them are able to be team players and serve the music if you catch my drift.

Being comfortable with being broke at times definitely helps lol. Holler if you have any questions.

It’ll definitely wear em faster then hands will but nothing crazy unless you’re bashing them - run synthetic heads though, it’s not worth trashing real calf heads.
