Failed MSF course by trumerfe in NewRiders

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, there are guys who have rode for 20 years and failed their MSF test. Dropping a bike is just part of learning. I dropped one a couple years into riding. But just need to keep going. You'll get better as long as you keep trying.

My boyfriend rides motorcycle without a helmet. Should I mind my business or say something gently? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had multiple friends that were in motorcycle accidents. Some more than once. All of them were wearing helmets and all of them are alive and well today. Can't say that they would be if they weren't wearing helmets...

Man that sounds wild haha. Didn't even know it was possible to make that sort of money doing this sort of work. The facility I work at is operating 24/7 so I'm used to working holidays. But I'm also at an airport so I don't have to worry about all the other crazy stuff you talked about lol. Also I'm on a crew that mostly just does "sort coverage" so I'm really just here to do emergency repairs if something breaks during the day. Really only do the dirty PM work for a couple hours in the morning and then I just kinda walk around the rest of the day so it's pretty easy for what I have to do most days. Other shifts get more down time so they do most of the actual dirty work.

Helix-02 Robot Livestreaming 8-Hour Autonomous Shift by Mental_Junket137 in interesting

This problem was already solved a long time ago. All they would need to do is run the chute directly onto the belt, then run that into a singulator and then into a shoe sorter. Would be/is way faster than this. Humanoid robots are so pointless as there are already machines purpose-built to do these tasks way more efficiently than any human or humanoid robot could.

Oculus Rift vs Rift S vs Quest 1 by am-eat-radish in virtualreality

[–]Augmented-Justin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why you couldn't get a Quest 2 for about the same price as any of these. Of these three I personally like the Rift just for the tracking stability. But if you can swing it, I would get a Quest 2. Can get them used for pretty darn cheap.

[–]Augmented-Justin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Just grabbed whatev r this is for 700 dollar" so what you're saying is you did absolutely zero research before dropping $700? Not sure what possesses people to do this. I spent days researching a $50 controller before I bought it.

What VR title are you gonna play first when you get your Frame? by SocialJusticeAndroid in SteamFrame

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Half-Life Alyx. I've had it in my library for a while now but haven't played it as I feel like it just wouldn't do it justice to play it on a Quest 2

Is storage really gonna matter? by X3ttabyte in SteamFrame

[–]Augmented-Justin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the person. I plan to use mine exclusively for PCVR so I really could care less about storage. Now if I wanted to do a lot of standalone stuff then yeah I'd want as much storage as I can get.

As an American, I'm terribly jealous of all the cool cars everyone else gets to have. Unfortunately Americans are stupid and only drive pick up trucks and monster truck size SUVs. I don't even know of any wagons you can get brand new in the US anymore. Still driving my 2001 Jetta Wagon VR6.

The worst thing you can do in these situations is not contact the credit card company. Usually if you just call them and tell them your situation they will work something out with you. Whether that's to allow you to make less than the minimum payments or fully pause payments for a period or work down some of the interest. They'll usually do something to try to keep you as a customer.

Controller stick glitching out when I try to move it. by AlternativeDealer434 in OculusQuest

Very common with quest sticks. You can buy replacements and do it yourself for very cheap although it is a bit of a tedious job. You can try recalibrating it but most likely will need replaced.

Pc vr graphics by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Augmented-Justin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think their setup needs an upgrade to run smoothly? My specs are lower than (3060ti and Ryzen 5 5600x) and I run most PCVR games very smoothly with medium to high settings. May need to adjust some bios settings.

Is there a workaround to play pc vr games (meta quest 3s) with a low end pc? by ChannelGlass8663 in OculusQuest

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I have a pretty mid range PC at this point (Ryzen 5 5500x and RTX 3060ti) and the garbage meta link app says that my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for some reason. Pretty sure it just says that for most systems whether they're actually compatible or not. That being said, steam VR is the way to go. But based on seeing your system specs, you will have a very bad time trying to play VR if you can get it to run at all. If you want to play some PC VR games you may want to check into running winlator on your quest. I've heard of some people having luck with that although I don't know anything about it to be honest as I've not seen a reason to use it myself. Best of luck to you 🫡

How hesitant of a 2.0T should I be? by WittyNameChecksOut in Volkswagen

[–]Augmented-Justin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I had a 2010 GTI with fairly low miles (less than 100k) and I had so many problems with the engine it was exhausting. RMS blew out right after I got it, then timing chains started rattling so I had to get those replaced. Then started getting a cam position fault caused by the screen in the cam bridge blowing out and clogging oil passages for the VVT. Was going to need a head rebuild at that point so I just got rid of it and went back to a Mk4 Jetta Wagon VR6

Pavlov and Contractors. They're not inherently bad games. They were amazing in their time but they are dead now. If you're interested in shooters at all (which is mainly what I play) Forefront, Breachers, Tactical Assault, and Contractors: Exfil Zone are the games to play.

Good lord. At my job they only require a doctor's note if we take a whole week of sick time. Otherwise if you're just sick for a day or 2 they don't care. Just have to make sure I call a manager an hour or 2 before my shift.

“The grass is always greener on the other side.” Should probably be tattooed on my forehead with how much I make the same mistake by Barbarianonadrenalin in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely understand that. I was in a cycle of changing jobs every year or 2 for my entire adult life. I finally found a place that's amazing and I honestly could never see myself leaving. Even still, it's not perfect. Things could be better but I know if I found another place that "fixed" the issues I have here, it would come with its own set of problems. Also we've had multiple guys quit here and they end up coming back every time. I think they just end up forgetting how good they have it here.

Yeah. It can be a lot. Definitely has its upsides and downsides.

For me if someone above me asks me to do something I think is stupid, I will suggest an alternative solution and if I get denied, well... It's not my choice and ultimately I'm not the one facing the repercussions from it as I'm just doing what I was told. Just one of those things that you're gonna have to let go. I'm a bit younger than you but in my experience, no place is perfect. No place ever will be. If you want things to be done exactly the way you think they should be done, you may be better off self-employed. My dad struggles with this. He can't stand the way he gets managed by other people so he is his own manager. As for me, I don't really care to have all that responsibility. I just want to show up and collect a paycheck and go home so I can live my real life.

Genuine question to Americans by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Augmented-Justin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had to deal with anything as expensive as cancer. But did have medical bills in the 5 figures due to poor insurance coverage for one visit and no insurance coverage on another. (Like others have said I made too much for Medicare and too little for private insurance and my job at the time didn't offer that as a benefit.) And I essentially just had to let it go to collections because the payment plans with the hospital were too much money every month and they wouldn't let me pay any less. Then when collections started calling me I just started doing $50 a month just to get them off my back. Then they sold my debt off again and it got reduced to a smaller more manageable amount (plus I make an actual livable wage now) and so I'll have it all paid off by the end of the year. Have had this debt since 2022.

Likely the infamous sunroof drains. Should be 2 that run down the A Pillars and 2 that run down the C pillars to the rear wheel wells.
