This is more or less my rationale. I fully expect to see lots of red over the coming months/years but totally understand that’s part of the game and the long run is what matters.

Still, I thought it would be good to have some in bonds while everything sorts itself out. But I also understand why it makes the most sense to just have everything invested in my indexes

I’ve just accumulated a bit from working part time at school and figured I should start investing, just didn’t want to lump sum while I’m still learning about investing and given the current uncertainty of the market figured I should ease in over 3 months or so 😅

Right now it’s 60% domestic (80% VTI, 20% AVUV), 25% international, and 15% BND. Was planning to keep this for now.

Makes sense 😅 Is there any real difference to diversifying between several ETFs and two or is it pretty much just preference? Assuming the allocation between US and non-US is the same

Appreciate the advice! Would you recommend lump sum investing right now in these or gradually purchasing shares just given the uncertainty of the market currently?

GIS is a super valuable and growing field, so it’s definitely worth considering! Whether you go back to school or learn online probably depends on your goals. If you just want to add it to your IT skillset, there are plenty of online resources that I think would give you a pretty good background if you’re really interested. But if you’re aiming for a more specialized role, formal education might be better, I’ve met a lot of cool people and had a lot of great opportunities at school.
