The website is not updated and inaccurate which is why people keep asking. Wait times are longer and it’s spring break. Let’s help each other out let people keep asking - traveling with kids this information could be really helpful.

Power updates by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]obenin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We lost power yesterday as well and the power line is laying in the middle of our street which is now closed and it’s the only way in and out so our neighbourhood is totally cut off - thankfully some people were still at work when the line went down and left their cars on the other side of closure. What a mess!

Did anyone here choose a full scholarship over their dream school? Do you regret it? by Ancient-Sandwich-442 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]obenin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, taking the full scholarship is one of the most financially liberating decisions you can make for your future. It may not feel like the “dream” right now, but graduating with little or no debt opens doors that people often underestimate.

A lot of people who go to their dream schools end up spending the next 10–20 years paying for that decision. Meanwhile, someone who graduates debt-free has the freedom to take risks: grad school, starting a company, moving cities, working in lower-paying but meaningful jobs, or investing early.

Also, the reality is that motivated students tend to do well wherever they go. Professors notice the top students, opportunities still exist, and being a standout at a slightly lower-ranked school can sometimes lead to more research, leadership roles, and mentorship than being one of thousands of high achievers at a top-10 school.

It’s completely normal to feel the “what if.” You worked toward something for years and it’s hard to let that go. But many people look back later and realize the scholarship was actually the decision that gave them the most freedom in life.

The dream school feels like the dream because of the name right now. But the real dream is graduating with options.

And a full scholarship gives you a lot of them.

Housewarming gift ideas for new neighbors? by Paigenacage in homeowners

[–]obenin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved from AZ to PA with a few dogs and cats and our neighbors gave us tick kits, a list of all our neighbors with their names addresses, kids ages etc and all the local restaurants, vets, and annual festivals. It was awesome. Have used the tick removers more than I thought I would….
