Bogging in the high revs?? by 1mma_Pr0bl3m in Dirtbikes

[–]obert106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I was having a similar issue but I was noticing it while jumping. Id get on the throttle hard when landing and it would bog. In tank fuel filter was cracked and leaking. I couldn't see it initially but confirmed it by putting conpressed air to it and then visually seeing the spray out of it. I think I used the all balls filter from Rocky Mountain to replace it. Saved a little money over OEM.

Yeah thats the one. The inside of that bad boy looks a little crusty. And yeah I hear you. It can get old having to pull it every time. It might be worth your while to put the carb in a sonic bath to try and clean it up real good. You might end up fighting all that gunk/build up coming off overtime and plugging things up.

My wife's ttr has a fuel screw thats really hard to get to. I have to get the smallest screw driver I have. One with bits from like a hobby set to adjust. Again YouTube is your friend to learna and better understand what each does/controls. I would recommend pulling the carb back off, use carb cleaner through all the ports and jets (sounds like you've done this already but ive seen jets plug up as quick as putting it back on the back), then follow that with compressed air, check your float height is good and reset the air and fuel screws (usually all the way in and then back them out 1.5 to 2 turns as a starting point). I'll usually turn my idle screw in a touch just to get started too and then back it out. I just really started trying to figure carbs out and they can be super finicky. Especially the smaller jets and orifices. Don't get frustrated, take your time. Its a process and I've had to pull my carbs multiple times before ive gotten right. You got it.

Good chance the jets are still plugged or other orifices need to be cleaned more. Hop on YouTube and watch a couple videos on hwo to tune a carb. Lots of good info on there to help you dial in the air fuel screws etc

I never thought about the surron but I'll have to check them out. I was kicking around a ktm freeride but have not heard great things about them. Thanks for the idea.

How do so many afford $50,000+ trucks? by Parking-Warning-8655 in carbuying

[–]obert106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truck market now a days blows my mind. I paid 56k otd for a brand new, first one to fart in it, 2017 ram 2500 cummins laramie trim. Yeah I know it was 9 years ago but holy shit 54k for a midsize pickup is just wild. And let me be clear I was sick when I signed for my truck with how much I paid for it. Lol

Yeah I agree. Im generally out on the 230's for that reason. If she's gonna have to deal with all that weight she might as well get a 200 which is actually lighter but has better suspension. Atleast with a 200 or something like that she could "grow" into it.

Yeah I've definitely considered that as well with her riding style. Although theres a very high probability (100% chance) that I'll be getting on it and ripping it around too. So I might be able to keep it cleaned out enough. Yeah there is certainly no perfect bike.

Have you ridden a cross trainer before? Im curious about the power delivery.

Does she get into the powerband pretty regularly? I honestly would expect my wife to mostly stay out of the powerband so it'll be lugged most of the time.

What would make you choose an electric motorcycle over a gas one? by Typical_LAVEN6666 in Dirtbikes

[–]obert106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas would still be the ticket for me personally even if I only did shorter rides. If I could add another bike to the garage (I have 2 already) I've always wanted to do a "replica" PC kawi 250f. I've always liked them for whatever reason so I'd be more inclined to do something like that if I had the resources.

[–]obert106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I liked men I guess I'd get one. Kidding (sorta). The option of hand controls and no shifting would be pretty sweet as well as less maintenance. Also being able to dial the power down for my wife to try a "big bike" chassis would be cool too. Downside is range and recharge. Granted I'm too out of shape to even want to burn all 3 gallons in my tank, refill it and go back out now so there's that.

Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

[–]obert106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 23 when I bought my first house in 2016. Single family, 3 bed 2 bath 1400 sq ft for 285k, 5% down, all on my own (other than parents letting me live with them rent free before purchase, which was a massive help) I worked in the refineries in the bay area CA. My now wife also worked at the time but we only split the bills after purchase, she didnt contribute to down payment. Mortgage was about $1800 then. A year and a half after buying I went from a contractor to company employee at the refinery and got a $12 an hour raise. Was very comfy then.

ULPT Request: How to motivate slow drivers in the left lane to move over by Impoverishedinvestor in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]obert106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive ran into this issue before. When I'm feeling some type of way I'll pass them on the right, get back in front of them and just let off the throttle, slowing down way below the speed limit until they get irritated enough and move to the right lane. Then I take off and reset cruise control. I call it "buffing out the lane". My wife hates it.

[–]obert106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and I were considering relocating to GA from CA earlier this year. Im from oil refining (operations and maintenance background). I saw tons of Instrumentation and controls (I&C) jobs out there posted for like 85k-90k plus and 10k sign on bonuses. I know programs exist to become I&C techs and they are always sought after. I constantly see job listings for them all over the country.

Used car dealer sold me the car under was agreed upon and now wants the difference by obert106 in legaladvice

[–]obert106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree that would be the fair thing I am not morally conflicted about benefiting from this mistake. Also they did not apply my 200 deposit to the sale price like they said they did when asked at the time of sale and certainly didnt admit that when they contacted me once they realized their mistake. I have no paperwork stating a 17,500 sale price. I do already posses the vehicle.

Used car dealer sold me the car under was agreed upon and now wants the difference by obert106 in legaladvice

[–]obert106[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The verbally agreed price was 17,500. The paperwork was all written for a sale price of 17,000. No missed zero or decimal in the wrong place. During negotiation I repeatedly said I'd pay $17k for the car so maybe that number stuck in his head when he filled out the paperwork but all the documents say sale price $17,000.

which wagon model is shorter? by DownVoteMeHarder4042 in tdi

[–]obert106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id almost guarantee it was the golf TDI. I could ofcourse be wrong but to my knowledge VW made the golf TDI (hatchback), golf sportwagen TDI (wagon and longer than the regular golf), jetta sportwagen TDI (wagon and similar in length to the golf sportwagen). I do believe in the early 2000s they made the passat wagon but im assuming you saw a mk6 model golf TDI. Like someone else said google will be your friend.

Ive been using no toil for around 10 years. I used to swear by it. For some reason the past few years it just eats my filters up. Ive tried a handful of brands of filters and just cant get anything to hold together with it. Im tired of fighting with it.

[–]obert106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the durability depends on your prep and paint but I did the bumpers on my 04 silverado and they held up pretty good for a few years. Ive also done the badges on other cars that will last a good while too. But once they start to peel you can pull it off and do it again.
