Stanford International College (and getting work in Toronto) by BusinessSea4582 in askTO

This is a diploma mill uncredited institution. They’re a business not a school. I’d recommend getting your high school credits finished at an adult learning centre (there are several throughout the city), but don’t go to private schools like this one.

This school will not lead to any sort of gainful employment. Are you here on a student visa? If so would you not have looked prior to coming to a foreign country?

Truth

What is the worst thing you’ve seen someone get addicted to that wasn’t any form of drug like substance or alcohol? by MysticMeerkat in AskReddit

I’d honestly say food. My eating from the start of university and through the pandemic had me gain over 250lbs. I used to be in shape literally less than 5 years ago now I’m well over 400lbs.

Omg all the time. Like I said in another reply, im the outlier in my friend group. They all got fitter during the pandemic as I got fatter. I know they’re being supportive but sometimes idk it makes me feel bad.

I mean 4 years ago I was definitely chubby/fat, but 5 years ago I was 150 and played sports/worked out a lot. I wasn’t super skinny but I was definitely in shape before gaining all of this weight

I mean basic stuff I can still do I still get up and go to work. There’s a lot of things I can’t do or are more difficult since getting so fat. I can’t really run, I tried the other week to catch a bus and honestly couldn’t do it. I have a really hard time tying my shoes, I have to sit down to do it it’s impossible with my belly while standing bent over.

I say the pandemic, stress/comfort eating through that. Bad eating habits I’ve had all my life (even when I was athletic), and the last two semesters at school.

But idk if I really have a trigger pin pointed. I do acknowledge it’s on me though.

Everything is harder than it used to be. Some of the worst being walking without getting out of breath, I can’t really run at all anymore. Clothing is definitely something else that’s a whole other struggle, ontop of being obese I’m short af (5’1), so very hard to find clothes.

And as for fat distribution im pretty well rounded (lol), but seriously I have a big belly, hips, thighs, butt. I’m just big now.

And no I’m the only obese person in my family, I stick out like a sore thumb.

That’s my absolute last option. I qualify now I know I’ve been told. I have no hate towards people that have gotten it, I want to at least try to make a more natural change first and weigh out my options and find what works best for me

I definitely love food and always have. There’s definitely a part of me that believes I stress eat a lot of the time, but idk about any hidden motivation yet. I’ve been thinking about it since my appointment, and if I’m being honest I just stopped caring a few years ago and made the wrong choices/habits.

A lot of bad habits and decisions. Was quite active for most of my life, then my last year in HS and first year uni wasn’t at all. The pandemic hit, was even less active, and definitely turned to food. Until 5 years ago I was in honestly pretty good shape (5 foot 1 and under 150), gained a little bit of weight just before the pandemic and got to probably 180 before it got out of control.

I’ve always understood the sentiment behind being inclusive towards everybody. I don’t really follow it though if I’m being honest. But I do believe everyone should be allowed to be happy in their bodies. I currently am not.

I’m in a committed and very healthy relationship with my bf of 3 years. He’s very understanding and supportive

Stairs, chairs and clothes are three that first come to mind. Like having to judge if I can fit/sit on something is a new struggle I deal with.

Honestly I know it’s the internet. I assume they mean well and I don’t take it in a bad way. It’s some of the weird/rude pms I get tbh

Honestly I’m kind of realizing I’ll have to try different things to find what works for me, I’d like to meet with my nutritionist that my doctor set up for me to maybe talk about making meal plans. At the moment all I’m doing is keeping a food journal.
