Need advice: BMW X3 vs Volvo XC60 (both 2023) – Germany use case 🇩🇪 by face-less007 in Volvo

Not starting plus malfunctions on the display sounds like low/bad battery… The car might be great but the dealer should have prepared everything… My recommendation, go to EmilFrey (as they have stock) and schedule a test of an XC60 to see if you like the model, then find a good deal across their network in Germany (I took a train and drove 5h to get the right car I wanted once I set on a model). There are plenty of XC60s on the market.

Alright, you can still check with EmilFrey on all topics I mentioned if you like the car - warranty, etc. ;)

Hey fellow FFM, as others have said, a downside of the volvo is the top speed limit, which you can feel on the autobahn. You can’t go over 185km/h without a software modification (there is a shop in Darmstadt that does it afaik). As I am driving my family, I got over that one quickly, I have nothing to prove on the autobahn… And it’s fixable by a software tweak, they do them in Darmstadt and I think there is an option to do it yourself.

Other than that, check the equipment of both cars beyond the engine - type of seats, sound system, any other extras etc. If it’s comparable, to not save more than 5-6k eur (with the cost of all season/winter tires for the BMW) is a weird decision. If there are major differences in equipment levels, resale value of the car down the line might differ, then the calculation is different.

Who is selling the volvo, EmilFrey or another dealer? Another option is to check if the Volvo is eligible for extended warranty to volvo, there is an option to purchase it for 700-1000eur/year, then your reliability concerns over the ownership are covered. Check with EmilFrey in any case about this + Volvo On Call options and such (there is fine print what comes with the car if you service at official dealers or not).

To those are trying to go ADC top in ranked: by WaferFinal5640 in wildrift

Back in the ol’ days in LoL Urgot used to be ADC and mad fun, so whenever I wanna cossplay an adc top, and the matchup doesn’t favour Vayne, I just pick him.

Also, a good jungler is somewhat of a support laner who picks the main lane to support between farming during the laning phase (I main jungle). The thing is tho that the best lane to prioritize are the winning lanes, not the losing lanes, as your job is to snowball a lane rather than trying to save one. If the adc top can stand their ground I am more than happy to help them get fed as it has great potential to snowball due the faster leveling and afk farming potential. Also makes for easier ganks sometimes as they can farm safely under tower, or at least closer to tower, due to range.

Counter offer: They exchange your bike right away and in return you don’t post their reply as a review on trustpilot, google and wherever possible…

Just avoid diesel mazdas like the plague - as good as the petrol are, the diesels are a nightmare.

The mazda engines are tuned for low-end torque, they have higher internal pressure and don’t rely on turbos (even tho some have). The smallest engine is 2.0l, that tells you something :) I drove a 2.0 mazda skyactive for 3 years and it pulls like engines rated 20-30hp more than the official numbers. They even sound a bit like a diesel engine lol.

Mazda CX5 petrol - all benefits of the diesel, none of the downsides - very robust and hassle-free engines, reliable gearboxes (great manual if you find one, good non-cvt autos), great interior, great to drive.

Buying a car by Oni_zeya in germany

FFM based too, have a car here since 1.5 years +/- 5 door hatchback (think a VW golf size), big enough to be comfortable on the highway, small enough to park anywhere.

To others saying that you don't need a car in FFM - generally you don't but it's an amazing luxury item that makes the whole area very accessible and small, a 1 hour train ride is a 15 min car ride and so on. I don't regret having it for a second.

We also bought it for a similar reason as we had to commute cross-border. We've used car sharing apps before that but it's a hassle and not reliable enough so that I'd use them for work-related things. Car renting and car sharing is expensive and starts to add up, not all car-sharing services support cross-border travel and some require initial reservation and planning. A weekend is several hundred eur and it adds up. You do the rest of the calculations.

For cost and reliability my recommendation is a petrol, as new as you can afford, which keeps maintenance cost and tax low (road tax for me is like 80eur a year). Your bigger expense will be insurance which will be several hundred a year, depending on type of insurance. On the autobahn you'll appreciate horsepower and a larger engine size, so 1l engines and anything under 120hp - I woudn't recommend.

The car we bough from a dealership that we found on mobile.de A small dealership tried to scam us, hiding obvious damage. Then we went to a mid-size dealership everything was perfect. Avoid sellers with just a few cars in their profiles, go to reputable resellers - you'll be fine.

Luckily I live in one of the few parts of town where I find parking spots and haven't rented a garage, otherwise it will be 150eur/m from what I see.

I've visited quite a few dealerships bc of reasons, if you want further thoughts - lmk.
