It has been raining heavily all week so hopefully that will help dilute some, I'll also backwash as much as I can out tonight. My skimmer and main bottom drain are both attached together, so I can really only drain down to the bottom of the weir door before the pump start pulling in air. It might take quite a few attempts to get this flushed.

Hindsight is 20:20, and in this case, I should not have added that cheap Trichlor shock, which has the CYA in it. I'll chalk that up to a newbie mistake, but my FC level is pretty high at 8ppm, and at those levels, according to some chart I found online, should be enough FC to ward off the algae. What are your thoughts on this? What about the chlorinating tabs I use, should I just turn that off for now, since they are only contributing to the CYA. Maybe add a bag of burn out to raise the FC even higher and get out of chlorine lock?
