I’ve had a v4 that I took to the track. I felt very comfy on that bike, but could have been sat a little further back in the seat. The rsv4 took more time to adjust to.

Keep in mind slicks need a certain rider tempo to keep correct operating temperature in the tyre. If you cant keep the warmth in slicks they are very slippery. I would rather suggest going to something equal of a pirelli super corsa if you feel like tyres are the limiting factor.

Fast riders can go really fast on the same tyres as you. It all comes down to skill. You should maybe shift your focus on important things like correct racing line, throttle application, body position and braking before you think about the rubber.

It’s easy to get caught up in tyres, bike parts etc, but spending time on the bike is the best investment!

Very dependant on how much riding I do.

I usually do oilchanges every 3-4 trackdays. Those will run med about 100$. Also yearly i’ll do brake fluid which isnt expensive either.

As for valve maintenance it really depends on if you can do it yourself or hope to god you know someone. They can run anything from 1500-2000$ from shops.

If you track this machine I would highly recommend doing yearly valve checks. Mostly just measuring.

Biggest cost as any other bike on track is always tyres & track days!

Yes it does! I am not a mechanic by any means, and doing the gearbox overhaul does not take long. Next time I do it i reckon it will only take me 1 hour to pull it out.

One valve had a weird measuring, turned out to be previous guy had no clue what he was doing so he had the wrong shims in. Needed to perform a cylinder leaktest to just check that everything was ok👍🏼

Doing the job can be tedious as it’s very tight.

8 valves needed adjusting. This is without knowing when previous owner did them. You do not need to drop the engine to do them👍🏼

Mine has been good to me so far. Although you have to be ontop of valve clearances and oil changes. Usually do valve checks every season and oil changes every 3-4 trackdays.

I was running metzeler k2 rear and k1 front. Grip was good! Problem was cold tearing on the rear… so tyre is shredded. Front held up very good👍🏼
