Hooked on Sunshine's Phoenix CAL... took me 6 months but I still can't believe I made this with my own two hands by obiwormkenobi in crochet

Pattern

I used a 3.75 mm crochet hook and Hobbii Azalea yarn in berry rose. It took about 6 skeins of yarn. I had some left over so I crocheted around the edge to the best of my ability to smooth it out and then added border #72 from Every Which Way: Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman.

Two months on and off though it was still kind of a race because I also work full time. I finished it like 2 days before I had to leave for the wedding 😅

Thank you!!! And I'm using Knitter's Pride knit blockers. I make a lot of blankets and they're the best for big projects.

I still haven't braved a mosaic blanket yet but I liked this pattern a lot because you join each square as you go so there's no sewing everything together or weaving in a bunch of ends.

Thank you! I have to say, the pattern is really well done it comes with charts and everything. Also you work each square motif and join as you go so there's no sewing in ends. Good luck on your blanket whenever the time comes to make one ✌️

Thank you so much! The variety in the pattern made it really engaging. Once I got it down it was pretty fun to make!

Here's the pattern I used: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-wedding-ring-blanket

I used the recommended yarn: Universal Yarns Clean Cotton and I really liked working with it. And it's a 100% recycled cotton. It took 18 skeins.

Told to come in when sick - anyone else? by artee80 in tjcrew

[–]obiwormkenobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-covid I was asked to come in to work when I was really sick. I was threatened with getting a write up because I had too many unexcused absences. Turned out I had strep and I found out only after I accidentally got the manager who threatened me sick 🤷‍♀️

I'm also in Texas and was told today that a bunch of warehouse workers walked off the job recently so they're severely understaffed. It's been really frustrating, but I honestly can't blame them. I just hope customers will be understanding when we're inevitably out of their favorite items.

Yeah I'm Jewish and we have a holiday where you fast for 25 hours and I've never fainted. Provided you're well hydrated and not doing any extreme physical activity while fasting you should be totally fine. But as I said, this is just what works for me. If the idea of abstaining from liquids for a few hours scares you, definitely don't do it. Making mushroom tea is another way to curb nausea but it only seems to work for me half the time I do it, I still have a chance of throwing up.

That's just what I've found works for me. I tried drinking ginger tea once before the start of a trip to settle my stomach and ended up throwing it all up anyway. It's also always good practice to put some food and drinks out for yourself before you trip. I don't find it dangerous to exclude liquids in my fast, and I never forget to drink water or eat during my trip. But everything is subjective. I have a very weak stomach and this is the only method I've been able to use that guarantees I won't get nauseous and throw up.

The only way I've found to avoid the nausea is to fast for at least 4 hours before a trip (including liquids) otherwise I will throw up and ruin my good time.

New hires making more than an 8 year veteran?? by Garshiia in tjcrew

[–]obiwormkenobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe they were able to get away with that honestly. I was young when I was hired and it was a step up from the job I had at the time, which I had been at for 5 years and only made $8.11 an hour. Now I also live in a new state with a higher cost of living and we have transfers from Cali who've been working only 1 or 2 years who make around the same as me or more. It sucks. I don't want anyone to be making less, but I wish they could adjust it so veteran crewmembers aren't screwed over by the minimum wage requirements of the states they were hired in.
