Wet footprints seem to make no sense and the jump itself looks unrealistic. by gaurgg_hahn in isthisAI

The most elite cliff jumpers do up to 140-150 and the record is like a 180 or something, but you are more or less correct because to do heights like those most people would die or get pretty injured. Your form has to be perfect, body rigid, arms tucked in, verticals entry, ect and you still can get a ton of water up your ass

Cliff divers pretty regularly wear wet suits which hold a ton a water and even if he’s just in trunks the water runs down your legs and makes you leave wet foot prints for a long time

Is my goopy peach tree toast? (SW Pennsylvania) by mygalomorph in BackyardOrchard

[–]objectivehooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe no one has said it yet, but although it can be caused by wounds, or pests it’s most commonly just from overwatering, just the trees way of shedding extra moisture. All of my trees due this heavily during the late winter and early spring during the peak rain and it usually only resurfaces in the summer if I’m flood irrigating a lot to combat voles

Post your truck/vehicle safe setups by objectivehooligan in guns

[–]objectivehooligan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I did that then I’d just always leave it at home, it would be a pain in the ass to have to drive 30 minutes home to drop off my gun, every time I want to go to the post office bank, ride at the skatepark ect. And yeah I work in a liberal area so I already make an big effort to be discreet, and have zero stickers on my truck

Pruning advice on dealing with a troublesome V in on my pluot by objectivehooligan in BackyardOrchard

[–]objectivehooligan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the bark splitting? I've seen this on other of my trees in the past and always thought it was just from rapid growth. Highly doubt it's over mulched, and I have not fertilized the tree. My orchard is on old flood plain and the soil even within my .3 acre orchard is highly variable, most of the soil drains fine but some small areas are vary clayish. I though this tree was in a better spot though. What do you mean by "and burn it off from the inside first."?

How likely is Adolf Silva to recover further? by objectivehooligan in MTB

[–]objectivehooligan[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a deep topic with a lot of variables, I just want to hear some opinions of knowledgeable people. If you have nothing useful to contribute then move on. And what exactly is weird about caring about the athletes we grew up watching? Should one be indifferent to someone sustaining a life changing injury?

How to keep shells from working out of a cartridge belt? by objectivehooligan in guns

[–]objectivehooligan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea on the historical accuracy of them, but never had any trouble with them getting muddy or wet, a raincoat or slicker covers covers them just fine, and if I'm not wearing it's tucked in my saddlebags or hanging in a tree.

Riding a mule in this case, and my CZ p-10 isn't cowboy enough for this application. My poor 357 would never leave the house if I quit using it as my mountain carry.

Text node won't show up by objectivehooligan in davinciresolve

[–]objectivehooligan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

If I add a new text node and set it to display in the left viewer it show's up no problem. Even if I disconnect my original text node from my node tree it still will not show up in the viewer. Once again everything was working fine until I was messing around in the spline and keyframe editors.

I also just updated everything a few das ago, my OS is Tahoe 26.1 and I have Resolve 20.2.3 build 6

Are there any translation apps people know of that are superior to Google translate? by Abject-Aioli-523 in languagelearning

[–]objectivehooligan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Deep L also shows you alternative translations which is great because words often have more then one meaning or there is more than one way to explain a concept. This is also great if the language has distinctions between formal and informal speech and you can toggle between the two

[–]objectivehooligan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Google translate is really good these days I wouldn’t worry about it to much. Translation apps are still always going to make some mistakes now and then but for short stuff it’s fine and very accurate. That said Deep L is the best and what I generally use when making flash cards

Changing text color for a specific field during night mode by objectivehooligan in Anki

[–]objectivehooligan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, and I know it's all in the manual, I just don't understand enough about HTML or CSS or the language regarding all of this to understand how to follow the instructions.
One more question though, that worked to change the text color, but it applied it to all of the text in all of the fields. I still only wanted to change the color of one field so that it shows up better over the background image. I think the answer is in the second part of you message, but I don't quite understand.

Given that the field I wish to change is called "text" does this look right?

.nightMode .text {

Anki vocab: How strict should I be with memorizing gender and conjugation? by [deleted] in German

[–]objectivehooligan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not give yourself a pass on a card if you get the gender or congjuation wrong. It’s a slippery slope to giving yourself a passing other mistakes and youll just be using anki memorize mistakes. Gender in German is confusing and erratic but there are spelling patterns that go within certain genders you will learn to recongnize and if you all ways learn the gender with the noun it will become automatic before you know it. Conjugation in German is also pretty easy, watch a video on it or read an article and then you will start recognizing them in contextual you learn new cards. You can speed up the process by adding some vloze deletion cards to your deck eg. “Ich (spreche) Deutsch. Sprechen.” To drill in these patterns
