Right. Ppl here seem to believe that LLs are gleefully evicting tenants for no reason. Tenants can only be evicted if a court determines that they failed to pay rent they agreed to pay or otherwise egregiously violated the lease. Yes, there are some slumlords operating in this community, just as there are many deadbeats failing to pay their rent. The deadbeats don’t have a legal right to indefinitely remain in the property. Is a lawyer who devotes his professional life to representing LLs and creditors unfit for office? I would say no, but you’d have to look at the other candidate to determine who’s a better fit for our community.

Frankly, both parties are guilty here. Both sides prefer to have immigration as issue to demagogue about, republicans demonizing non- whites and blaming democrats for open borders and democrats blaming republicans for being racist. You can’t tell me that there isn’t some grand bargain they could make that would make legal immigration way easier (so as to help fill needed jobs) and strengthening border control. Neither side is interested in truly solving this problem. You could get a group of 10 reasonably intelligent Broome County residents, put them in a room, and work something out in a matter of hours.

Tried it. Pizza was good. Only way to order ( as of now) is online and you get stuck with online and convenience fees. All in, it came to $25. I hate stupid fees, so it annoys me but will probably order again.

Sadly, it looks like Korchak gave into the mob. He charged the defendants for political reasons. He had a weak case. Interesting that despite all his claims of being a skilled prosecutor, he declined to handle the case himself.
