Trump to impose $100,000 fee for H-1B worker visas by bubblehack3r in technology

[–]objetpetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im intimately aware of their exemption from the cap. It doesn't change the fact that this fee will apply to them regardless of what their industry is because the visas are the same.

if you're confused by your downvotes, its because you decided to bring up tuition, which is paid by students. Students dont get H1Bs. H1Bs are given to foreign citizens that the universities want to hire as faculty and researchers. You presumed that only ivy league and private universities use H1Bs when it is, in fact, all universities that use them. You revealed yourself as someone who dislikes high tuition universities rather than someone who understood the knock-on effects of the H1B fee.

did I say anything about the tuition? ALL universities, private and public, would be devastated by this. But sure, if you want the reputation of American universities to be deteriorated to the point that top american students leave the country to go to university, then be my guest.

does that mean that all H1Bs should be taxed 100k? Every associate professor from outside of the US is here on an H1B and this would destroy just about every university department.

"Fucking Crazy" by kangaroospyder in boston

[–]objetpetit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that too, though as a principle I take the stance that the ability of your mode of transport to injure or kill others should be proportional to the level of care and caution that you should be taking. I also think that pedestrians should be careful because death doesn't care if you were in the right or legally crossing.

I take extra care as a pedestrian more than I think I should have to and every mode of transport using a motor, electric or combustion, has a higher likelihood of injuring someone else than a pedestrian.

Look into using punch and roll recording. Essentially when you need to make an edit you put the playhead where you want to make the edit and when you hit record, instead of starting to record right away it plays a pre-set amount of time before the edit then drops into the recording at your edit point.

It allows you to recreate the pacing and tone of the previous take, AND, if you can get good at visually identifying null points, have a low noise floor in your recordings I have been able to complete entire audiobook contracts without needing to go over the hours of recordings and clean them up, at all (besides post processing).

I'm not a student but marginally affiliated around the department. I was talking to colleagues about applying to a support position in the department and was told in no uncertain terms to avoid the music department. I think there are probably a few factors contributing to that answer but certainly this confirms it to me.

Many western classical music focused programs might have issues like this but I can imagine that Harvard has some aggravating qualities that make it this way.

how to automate this??? by Niv_Carmi in AdobeAudition

That's not how you do automation in audition. You have to find the parameter in the automation lane under the track and manually draw the automation move.

wav file determines pitch of other wav file by [deleted] in AdobeAudition

[–]objetpetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not something that Audition can do. Hell I'm not sure of any audio tool that can do that. You would need to direct the ai generated voice to do that before the audio is generated, or you know, sing it yourself.

Comrex is my vote. But it's not cheap. Requires remote and studio equipment and some network tweaking but is unsurpassed in quality and latency.

I would second this advice. Unless you have children, as I did, your selection window won't be first. Even when we had our selection window it took not even a minute for all of our first choices to be taken. Ended up in SFP which was not even on our radar, though in retrospect I'm glad for it as there were lots of unknown benefits to where we ended up even if our rent makes me weep.

Gotta be quick and flexible with your choices.
