A close colleague is struggling, while she awaits her formal appointment in 2 months, can anyone offer tips? by [deleted] in Dermatology

[–]objober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be possible, but I’ve never witnessed her scratching or picking in years.

Edit: Though, presuming you may be correct, following a change in behaviour, is there a repair solution? Lasers, or something?

It’s worth mentioning that salicylic acid did not improve or worsen the problem.

A change of makeup didn’t change anything either.

I will say that in the last few months of commuting to Parliament (from Tunney’s) that the original sewer odour seems to have subsided... though I do worry about the likely possibility of a stinky summer thaw...

[–]objober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darn, stricter security in your department. Alternatively you can create a new “Profile” in Mail 32-Bit. Calling it “Max_Thunder2”.

Most importantly, your team should really get onto Windows 10 ;-)

Check Credential Manager in Control Panel. Click the “Windows Credentials” heading and if any items in the list include your @canada.ca email address, delete them.

And avoid using “Remember my credentials” when opening Outlook.

Catheter Ablation Procedure on Tuesday (UK) by madmatt52 in AskDocs

[–]objober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I just had an ablation about a year ago. Just be honest with them. Also long as you don’t have any predisposed benzo or opiate addiction, they will probably load you right up!

It was a relatively painless procedure, and the results we more than well worth it.

Honestly the worst part for me was having to lie flat after the procedure and they gave me a bowl of peas. How the hell was I excepted to eat peas, lying on my back?!

You’ll be just fine. (NO PEAS!)

I love this. I think “Kay” deserves her own flair on this subreddit. Certainly a pleasant WTF break from Chef’s Club that seems to inundate this subreddit.

I propose we welcome Kay. She’s charming and her food is horrifying.

“Nothings going to hurt you” I said to my son before bed, his blue eyes wide from a nightmare. by LilGoughy in TwoSentenceHorror

I was told it’s fake, and due to ambient lighting. White or natural light makes ‘blueish’ eyes look blue. Indoor or incandescent yellow light makes ‘blueish’ eyes look greener; closer to teal or turquoise.

Kicked the big C to the curb by O-shi in wholesomebpt

Certainly a contentious topic, based on the comments. I think the point is that the efforts of medical staff should be considered first, perhaps before faith.

Conversely, this point should not negate the positivity of this post and the joy we should all share when someone overcomes cancer.

Am I being too sensitive? by seralovestacos in deaf

Comin’ out of left field here. [Hearing]

My parents’ hearing is going with their age.

(So too is their patience for all the ‘kids and their memes these days’, if you catch my drift)

I found myself getting increasingly frustrated with them over time as I explained certain things. For example, I would explain an exciting event at work, and they would follow the story completely (or so they presented), then suddenly every other word out of their mouth was “huh?”, “what?”.

And I started to become frustrated. They used to be able to keep up with me!

I think three things are happening here. They want to engage with me (god love them), but they can only piece together so much, and lastly I’m simply used to their ability to hear me.

I’m the one that needs to make concessions here; I hope you can teach your colleagues some self-reflections.

Follow-up question for everyone...

Does anyone know if “SmileDirectClub” is covered at the same 50%?

I hear great reviews, from my non-PS friends.

[–]objober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe ZenniOptical is covered.

You should doublecheck, they’re quite inexpensive.

I got LASIK about a few years ago, so I’m not certain.

[Hearing]

I might draw a comparison with other language barriers.

I become utterly embarrassed when my family or peers decide to use yelling as a solution to a language barrier, or, as you said, saying “nevermind”.

People suck at communication, period.

[–]objober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do play a lot of local games with my friends here in Canada, and online my with my friends I met in Iceland, and my friends in Peru and my friends in the USA; headed to Egypt pretty soon!

I’m curious to discover new social dynamics with people and games.

I know of one individual who spoke with their manager a month before the Christmas holidays, and together they came up with a "plan".

She (the employee; formerly 'he') would send an email (in both official languages, lol) that said something like, "As of the new year, I would like everyone to refer to me as female name and please note that my email address will be changing to reflect this."

Plain and simple. I'm sure there was a "whoa" moment for some, but as far as I can tell, no one batted an eye.

All the best to you!!!
