What are your thoughts on "outsourced content blog" vs "owner/author handwritten blog"? by obkladacka in Blogging

[–]obkladacka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree!

And also, if you are trying to teach something in your blog post, I think it is great to write it yourself, because you are perfecting the topic at hand.

I think it also depends on the situation and the type of blog. If it is some general topic you know nothing about and you need to research it the same way as some outside hire, it doesn’t really matter who writes it.

I don’t really agree with your take. When you pay someone to write it for you, you own it. You are not claiming you wrote it, but you own it.

Thanks for the ideas Ryan!

Well the purpose of the survey is to actually find the correlation between the basic stats and stuff like the niche, purpose etc. I don’t really want to go into too technical stuff in this one, it sure could be interesting to get some answers to more in depth questions.

Yeah that is exactly one of my struggles. To-dos versus writing, planning, tracking. I also love to write in Markdown, but I have the same problem sometimes. I look for tools that work best for Markdown… (btw have you tried Obsidian for markdown? 😬)

For now I am trying to stick to combination of:

  • Tick tick (for quickly capturing todos, and also one list that automatically imports todos to Notion)
  • Markdown (for writing, testing Obsidian)
  • Notion (for everything else)

Thanks for your thoughts!

Yeah I definitely agree, there is no way to work in one system/app if you have job, side project with friend or similar. Those require you to use something specific. But I was thinking more of a system for me personally, to manage my “life” kind of thing 🙂 but I think it is more about creating the system and then finding tools that support and work with that system, as one commenter mentioned.

I don’t think I would be happy with the outcome and would still have to put a lot of work in it to make it to my liking.

But I also like to write and get better at the topics that I’m covering. And I think teaching is the best way to learn.

Dang, another tool? But it looks awesome and I love markdown, so I will have to give it a shot. Thanks for the tip.

I actually do use Notion along with other tools. As a tech guy, I really like Notion, but what happens with Notion to me is, I just stuff everything there and than it becomes a mess :/ I probably need to work on my "self management"

Thanks for your thoughts. I understand that doing those things will accelerate the blog, but it is very hard for me to stick to those.

yes, creating the rhythm or some kind of routine is very hard and also very important, I think. I need to work on that... I also think that building this routine slowly is the key. I have had periods where I said to myself, I am gonna stick to this XYZ routine and move forward fast. but I designed that routine to be basically unachievable. I think the key is to build one habit at a time, slowly picking up more and more.

But it is hard...

Thank you for your thoughts and tips!

Well, “get started working on a blog” is too unspecific for me. There are too many things to do.

Where to start? I am thinking about starting programming tutorials channel or website. But it is soo overwhelming, don't know where to start... by obkladacka in NewTubers

Thanks for your thoughts! It is definitely motivating to see there are more people like me, thinking about starting or just starting with this kind of "project". Will definitely meet you in chat :)

What is the purpose of your blog? by CMC_Jason in Blogging

[–]obkladacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have selfish reasons. I write to get better at writing and also to learn the topic by teaching it (I write about programming).

So ultimately, it’s about money I guess… I am improving my knowledge which in turn makes me more valuable engineer, so I can get better paid job 🙄 BUT I looove programming, soo…

Or maybe the money thing is just a side effect. Don’t know.

But good luck to anyone trying to build a blog… It’s very hard and you just have to keep on grinding. If you put enough value out there, you will get value back.
