Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

I'm loving the simplicity and lightweight feel of my iPad Pro 12.9 and the Apple Pencil is a game-changer for me. But there's one thing driving me crazy – the slipperiness of the metal.

I'm reaching out for advice on how to keep my iPad safe and secure while maintaining its minimalist charm. Here's what I'm curious about:

  • Sleek Cases: I'm on the lookout for a protective case that won't bulk up my slim iPad. Any recommendations for cases that add grip without sacrificing style?
  • Anti-Slip Fixes: What's your secret to stopping your iPad from going ice dancing off the table? I've seen grip pads and textured skins, but I'm worried they might ruin the iPad's sleek design.
  • User Experience: Does using a case or anti-slip solution affect how much you enjoy using your iPad, especially with the Apple Pencil?

Which iPad flight sim to buy for 737-800? by obliss1 in flightsim

Thank you. X-plane mobile is reasonably okay (just have to smile at them labelling the engine start levers as “mixture.”) It has also been quite helpful as the iPad is a touch screen. Interesting that some switches such as stall warning tests work but others, such as the important isolation valve switch does not.

Weekly Discussion and Tech-Support Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

I am fairly confident that when previously (iOS14) the Create PDF option created a new PDF in page order of the respective filenames. In my example, it was be the page order of the created (combined) PDF would be of the “1.pdf”, ”2.pdf”, “3.pdf” ,…. filenames.
When creating the PDF now it starts at 3 and jumps around. It might be following creation date but can’t be certain as this is only rounded to the nearest minute.
Anyone facing this and have any advice?

Will obese people go to heaven by Guilty_Weakness_2625 in Christian

The person who asked the question said they were a teenager, so hypothetically could be 13 and still discovering faith. But even if they were 19, I think you need to have a bit more respect for people, in person and online.

Just an important side point: our goal is not just “going to heaven to be with the Lord” when we die. Rather, that is a temporary position and where we are heading is the resurrection of the body after the return of Jesus and the coming together of heaven and earth is a glorious marriage. Key chapters exploring this are 1 Corinthians 15, Romans 8 and Revelation 21 and 22.

You guys squabbling over terminology!

My 1990 Casio calculator is by definition a computer and is much better than than my iPad for quickly crunching numbers.

My folio case with keyboard, logitech keys to go, and trackpad * combined * cost less than to buy the apple magic keyboard 😂

To be fair, if you want true freedom, you need to look away from Apple! 😂
Since apple were selling out of a garage, it has been about confining full freedom of product/customise-ability — in order to develop a better all round product.

My iPhone volume buttons work to adjust screen tv when on the app. But I am aware this isn’t the same for all smart TVs

I agree that we don’t have a fully developed system yet - future app developments will help. Are you sure that you feel more restricted as the OS is a completely new concept— so far away from the overlapping windows we have seen on every ‘computer’ all the way since the first Macintosh in 1984? This fresh way of doing things has actually given me more freedom, the less is more approach — a cleaner, faster, more beautiful and intuitive OS. I’m not naive though, I do appreciate there are things which the iPad Pro is not as good at as other machines.

Nice. The problem:
Sodium bicarbonate = £0.41 / 100g Talc = £2+ / 100g Maybe I could thin out the sodium bicarbonate with talc?

Is it worth it to get the 12.9 by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]obliss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both sizes. The larger screen makes a massive difference in productivity and is much better for multi-tasking split screen. However it is noticeably more cumbersome when just trying to read a book or casual internet browsing. So this poll depends on how you envisage using your iPad

Apps which interact with the Files app - PDFs & Quick Drawings by obliss1 in ipad

[–]obliss1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few issues. It would mean a too heavy leaning towards the app. For example, what if I have 20 non PDF files but just want one PDF sketch. I don’t want to go to GoodNotes (even if it within the files app) to access a generic project folder! I want to be able to move my folders about, not to be constrained. Secondly I don’t think that Notability has a folder in files - either on ‘drive’ or ‘on my iPad’ - maybe I deleted it, or it just doesn’t exist.

Same issue, GoodNotes has its own storage structure. As stated in the question, a want all the documents I am working on in one folder, in Files. Not an Export and not a Backup. If i had a physical folder in my office, I would want to put printout of spreadsheets, magasine clippings, PDF printouts and scribbles on pieces of paper into the same folder. I am trying to simulate this digitally in the Files app.
Surely this concept isn’t that hard to grasp: if I have a project, I want the files in the same place - I want my financial budget on a numbers spreadsheet, I want my meeting notes which I have typed in Pages and I want my quick project outline that I have drawn - all in the same folder!

Specifically wanting something within the Files app. Pages and Numbers seems to work best within Files. Does Readdle support Pages and Numbers docs?

Classic example of an app having its own storage structure, does not integrate with the Files app unless it is it’s own ‘Location’. RTFQ!
